#8 of 16 in Parks in Brussels
Parc Léopold or Leopoldspark is a public park located within the Leopold Quarter of Brussels, adjacent to the Paul-Henri Spaak building, the seat of the European Parliament. The park was opened to the public in 1880 after the unpopular Royal Zoological Garden had been removed. During the following years, a campus for the famous Solvay School of Commerce was established in the park but construction of additional buildings was soon curtailed for fear of encroachment on the park and its fragile wildlife. The buildings have remained to this day but only one still belongs to Solvay . The building of the Royal Belgian Institute of Natural Sciences is also located in the park. The Solvay Library is also located in the park and houses the Security & Defence Agenda, Friends of Europe and Maison d'Europe think tanks. In 2017, the House of European History, a history museum, opened in the refurbished Eastman Building. The outstanding feature of the park is its pond, fed by the Maalbeek stream. Many rare trees and animals such as mallards, moorhens, coots, and even Egyptian geese and rose-ringed parakeets thrive in this urban environment.

This small, but very pleasant Park is located in the middle of the bustling and lively neighbourhood of Europe. He is surrounded by beautiful old University buildings and invites you to linger.

In this park you can choose between spending pleasant hours contemplating the ducks and the nature or visit the House of European history, or both on the same day if you so prefer. The Park is very well located, a jump of the European Parliament and Place Jourdan. Very easy to be found either on foot or by public transport. Worth a visit if you're a tourist and if not in winter, spend your time trip here if only to rest my legs a little.

A calm oasis surrounded by urbane EU buildings in the parliament quarter of Brussels. Its a nice place to relax those tiring legs after hours of spending inside Parliamentarium or History of Europe building or after your hemicycle visits. Carry your own food /drink if you plan for a picnic. There is even a kids play zone and adult play court. Mostly on a sunny day you will find people lying either sunbathing or reading a book . Myself I spent watching swans for over an hour.

Small but cozy park where you can relax on the grass. Check the European history museum while you're there. It's for free!

I love this park for my two year old because there's a small area with slides and swings, no pets allowed.

The perfect park for having lunch or a picnic or read a book or just to relax. Close to the European institutions
