#8 of 31 in Parks in Brussels
Parc Léopold or Leopoldspark is a public park located within the Leopold Quarter of Brussels, adjacent to the Paul-Henri Spaak building, the seat of the European Parliament. The park was opened to the public in 1880 after the unpopular Royal Zoological Garden had been removed. During the following years, a campus for the famous Solvay School of Commerce was established in the park but construction of additional buildings was soon curtailed for fear of encroachment on the park and its fragile wildlife. The buildings have remained to this day but only one still belongs to Solvay . The building of the Royal Belgian Institute of Natural Sciences is also located in the park. The Solvay Library is also located in the park and houses the Security & Defence Agenda, Friends of Europe and Maison d'Europe think tanks. In 2017, the House of European History, a history museum, opened in the refurbished Eastman Building. The outstanding feature of the park is its pond, fed by the Maalbeek stream. Many rare trees and animals such as mallards, moorhens, coots, and even Egyptian geese and rose-ringed parakeets thrive in this urban environment.

  • Here's a good lovely Park that will you get from a water point with his animals to the buildings of the European Parliament. You will see the famous library HORTA or even this great school, in short you will travel in time until now. On Sunday morning a two steps from the water point a nice market takes place not to be missed.

  • This Park is beautiful, close to the Jourdan place where you will find plenty of restaurants, breweries,... and also close to the European communities. Very nice to walk around in all seasons and especially, when it's hot in the summer, for example, because the many trees and the presence of the small lake bring you a lot of freshness. Really beautiful in the autumn with the different colors of the leaves of the trees: yellow, Orange, gold, red, Brown,... Only one HITCH: avoid early evening or evening because there has already been a few attacks of single women...

  • Nice Park ,great for a break in the city. There is a playground for kids but itis not in good condition compared with the immaculate rest of the park.
  • Beautiful park great for getting away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Lots of greenery. We took lunch and a nap on the grass. Very peaceful.
  • This was our favourite park in Brussels. It was so beautiful and in a central part of the city. There were many people out enjoying the day.
  • Beautiful parc in the heart of European District of Brussel, just between EU Parliament and European Commission buildings.
  • Nice place, nice view, you can spent time and enjoy the beauty

Where to stay in Brussels

It's easy to find accommodations in Brussels for nearly any budget. Tourists generally gravitate to the area surrounding Grand-Place, the city's main square. Also consider staying near Stephanie Square Centre and Boulevard de Waterloo, which are both centrally located. As Europe's unofficial capital, the city boasts a wealth of high-end hotels for visiting diplomats, concentrated along glitzy Avenue Louise. Those looking for a low-budget option will find a host of hostels scattered around the Grand-Place and within walking distance to the city's main attractions.
