#8 of 31 in Parks in Brussels
Parc Léopold or Leopoldspark is a public park located within the Leopold Quarter of Brussels, adjacent to the Paul-Henri Spaak building, the seat of the European Parliament. The park was opened to the public in 1880 after the unpopular Royal Zoological Garden had been removed. During the following years, a campus for the famous Solvay School of Commerce was established in the park but construction of additional buildings was soon curtailed for fear of encroachment on the park and its fragile wildlife. The buildings have remained to this day but only one still belongs to Solvay . The building of the Royal Belgian Institute of Natural Sciences is also located in the park. The Solvay Library is also located in the park and houses the Security & Defence Agenda, Friends of Europe and Maison d'Europe think tanks. In 2017, the House of European History, a history museum, opened in the refurbished Eastman Building. The outstanding feature of the park is its pond, fed by the Maalbeek stream. Many rare trees and animals such as mallards, moorhens, coots, and even Egyptian geese and rose-ringed parakeets thrive in this urban environment.

  • This small, but very pleasant Park is located in the middle of the bustling and lively neighbourhood of Europe. He is surrounded by beautiful old University buildings and invites you to linger.

  • Situated next to the main buildings of the European Union, is a place of calm and relax, because all the existing movement around.

  • In this park you can choose between spending pleasant hours contemplating the ducks and the nature or visit the House of European history, or both on the same day if you so prefer. The Park is very well located, a jump of the European Parliament and Place Jourdan. Very easy to be found either on foot or by public transport. Worth a visit if you're a tourist and if not in winter, spend your time trip here if only to rest my legs a little.

  • Nice Park ,great for a break in the city. There is a playground for kids but itis not in good condition compared with the immaculate rest of the park.
  • Beautiful park great for getting away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Lots of greenery. We took lunch and a nap on the grass. Very peaceful.
  • This was our favourite park in Brussels. It was so beautiful and in a central part of the city. There were many people out enjoying the day.
  • Beautiful parc in the heart of European District of Brussel, just between EU Parliament and European Commission buildings.
  • Nice place, nice view, you can spent time and enjoy the beauty

Where to stay in Brussels

It's easy to find accommodations in Brussels for nearly any budget. Tourists generally gravitate to the area surrounding Grand-Place, the city's main square. Also consider staying near Stephanie Square Centre and Boulevard de Waterloo, which are both centrally located. As Europe's unofficial capital, the city boasts a wealth of high-end hotels for visiting diplomats, concentrated along glitzy Avenue Louise. Those looking for a low-budget option will find a host of hostels scattered around the Grand-Place and within walking distance to the city's main attractions.
