Museum of the City of Brussels (Musee de la Ville de Bruxelles), Brussels

3.8
Discover how the capital city became what it is today at Museum of the City of Brussels (Musee de la Ville de Bruxelles). The museum showcases a scale model of Brussels in the Middle Ages and a whole host of artifacts specific to the city, including items used by all types of people, from craftsmen to aristocrats. Paintings, textiles, tapestries, and tools fill each room of the city hall, which houses the museum. You'll recognize the building by the ornate statuary and relief carvings that distinguish it in the Grand Place, the large square in the city center. Don't miss the display of 750 costumes for the city's iconic Mannequin Pis, the famous urinating fountain. The attraction is included on the BrusselsCard (available at the tourist office), or you can purchase a ticket upon arrival. • Located on the Grand Place (probably the most beautiful square in Europe), its facade is impressive, only the town hall makes shadow precisely opposite, its interior is a little less interesting, but has a beautiful exhibition halls and above all becomes must-see when you discover (if you know isn't the oddest) than the Manenken Pis original is stored here due to several robberies in their original location, where a copy is now.

  • The City Museum is located on the Grand Place and has 3 floors small. There's not much interesting to see. On the top floor has the original statue of the dummy pissen

  • Amidst all the lightly colored gold trimmed marvels of architecture, this one stands out with its Neo-Gothic styled dark colored edifice. Its a magnificent piece of art, this building. And once you enter, its holds a collection of art and history. Its worth a visit. There are lockers inside to store you bags and belongings and there are audio guides available to help you get acquainted to the pieces of art in the collection
  • Nice museum, although quite limited to the city of Brussels. I was expecting more history learning rather than porcelain sight seeing, but it might please a different crowd.
  • Wonderful building. Truly amazing during the Christmas light show.
  • If you want to learn more about Brussels and the folklore then have a look at the City of Brussels museum, over two floors it will start at the early settlements to today, I suggest this is more of an rainy day activity unless you have an urge to know more about Brussels, having said that it is a on interesting visit.
  • Excellent museum where you can see the history of the city as well as many exhibits about the architecture of the city and the many customes made for the baby peeing fountain ... and the display about the tapestry restoration and explanation of this art... Well worthed the entrance fee
