4.6/5 based on 220+ reviews on the web
Declared a National Heritage Site in 2001, Musee David et Alice van Buuren showcases an impressive collection of over five centuries of art housed within an Art Deco house. Wander the rooms filled with both masterpieces and lesser-known works by Vincent van Gogh, James Ensor, Pieter Jansz Saenredam, Rik Wouters, and many others. David van Buuren was the patron of the Belgian artist Gustave van de Woestijne, who showed his gratitude by contributing to the couple's collection. Almost every piece of decor and furniture have been designed by Belgian and Dutch artisans--note the carpets in the living room designed by Jaap Gidding, and a 500 kg (1,100 lb) chandelier by Jan Eisenloeffel. Don't miss the landscaped gardens with their hedges, trees, and walkways--works of art in and of themselves. You can reach the attraction by exiting the tram at Churchill in the Uccle District. The museum operates on a limited schedule, check for opening times before you arrive. • This House-Museum is a treat for the senses and the culture. For years the van Buuren couple has accumulated real treasures in his house: furniture, paintings, rugs, objects are all beautiful, big Bill, often Art Nouveau. This home has a soul! His garden is also a true gem: its maintenance is remarkable, particularly the maze.

  • Beautiful house large plot. Maze to try inside everything is nicely described. Funny servants entrance. But ladies want to gladly pass on all their knowledge. You might remember that a Lalique vase as described is in the right place in the Salon... Very easy thanks to tram
