  • When I say different, is compared to the architecture that typically found in Brazil. But in Brussels is very interesting, we could find these types of quirky houses in different parts of the city.

  • Passed this building just at the weekend - deliberately went out of my way to visit it. It's beginning to look very sad and neglected: grills over the windows, glass smashed, disgusting steel anti-van...  more »
  • By square Ambiorix found this fantastic art nouveau House from 1900 by Gustave Strauven, by the same architect, is another terrific House from 1904 just before you walk into the Joasaphat Park, on the lower floor there is a restaurant-take a look inside, the décor stands as from that time as a living museum. On the square is also seen Hotel Vermelde by Victor Horta in the more restrained style. It is the large rosette-window and the balconies and the choice of materials, which, together with the colour scheme makes this House so original and exciting. There is available an excellent leaflet with map at the tourist office to use for trips in the art nouveau/deco, the costing E5. We got it elsewhere for free like we got an excellent guide with other tips. For enthusiasts like us in art nouveau is Brussels as a trip to a kid in a candy store.
