Beyond its extraordinary façade, Cauchie House is a private home which the two upper floors are leased, but you can visit the basement (history/collection) and the first floor (furniture, Sgraffito) with a guide, one weekend per month. In the month of August expected not to so many people, and them neither: we were close to 40, crammed into small pieces that would have deserved more 'MA' (Japanese, on-site space concept). The visit really worth it however, with a mixture of arts and inspiration, the new art is capable of, and under the roof of one man (and his wife, accomplished it as artist). Hats off to the people who allow this place to stay open to the public and which animate it with passion, even if the mode of tour isn't really at the height of interest in the place.

If you're around the 1st weekend of the month, go make the visit of the Cauchie House. It lasts 45 minutes and there are in french, in Dutch and English. 7 euros (not accepted bank cards) and the children do not pay. The tour is guided and is very interesting because the guide explains well the intentions of the architect. The basement and the ground floor only to visit but the reason is that the 2 floors dedicated to the life of the artist were not at all decorated and so are not worth the trouble. In addition, they are inhabited by tenants.

A (guided tour, for our part by the grandson of Guy DESSICY who had 'saved' home with his wife and rediscovered the graffito of the DRC) exceptional, guide fan, that's exciting to listen to our questions, the friendly verve and who never tired. A very beautiful place, full of charm and spirit that actually plunges back into the atmosphere of the time.

The visit made by the daughter of the family who has restored the beautiful House. Exciting anecdotes and lots of emotion. Super interesting and much better than the classic Art Nouveau buildings visits!

Beautiful visit. The visit is if or if guided and is offered in English or French. You can only visit certain weekends so you have to look before

Where to stay in Brussels

It's easy to find accommodations in Brussels for nearly any budget. Tourists generally gravitate to the area surrounding Grand-Place, the city's main square. Also consider staying near Stephanie Square Centre and Boulevard de Waterloo, which are both centrally located. As Europe's unofficial capital, the city boasts a wealth of high-end hotels for visiting diplomats, concentrated along glitzy Avenue Louise. Those looking for a low-budget option will find a host of hostels scattered around the Grand-Place and within walking distance to the city's main attractions.
