  • Now this was quite disappointing. Only one floor, no explanation about the facade, trip was only in French. The whole visit was about 15-20 min: I wonder whether they just don't bother explaining much...  more »
  • This is the Art Nouveau building located near the Park. It is recommended that go little bit far from the city centre by Metro. A short walk from the train station. Tour only, but it seems very limited it seems. When I went I was close. I wanted to see if it's possible.

  • Beyond its extraordinary façade, Cauchie House is a private home which the two upper floors are leased, but you can visit the basement (history/collection) and the first floor (furniture, Sgraffito) with a guide, one weekend per month. In the month of August expected not to so many people, and them neither: we were close to 40, crammed into small pieces that would have deserved more 'MA' (Japanese, on-site space concept). The visit really worth it however, with a mixture of arts and inspiration, the new art is capable of, and under the roof of one man (and his wife, accomplished it as artist). Hats off to the people who allow this place to stay open to the public and which animate it with passion, even if the mode of tour isn't really at the height of interest in the place.

  • Very nice!
  • World art nouveau heritage
  • Good explanations of the guide (la) but too bad just cellars and a ground floor

  • Interesting visit, contributes to art nouveau. The work of Cauchie allows you to delve into two parallel architecture, the sgrafitto and furniture aspects, both outstanding. However it is necessary to put the visit in their righteous terms: lasts 50 minutes and can only see a part of the House, the living room.

  • The visit made by the daughter of the family who has restored the beautiful House. Exciting anecdotes and lots of emotion. Super interesting and much better than the classic Art Nouveau buildings visits!

Where to stay in Brussels

It's easy to find accommodations in Brussels for nearly any budget. Tourists generally gravitate to the area surrounding Grand-Place, the city's main square. Also consider staying near Stephanie Square Centre and Boulevard de Waterloo, which are both centrally located. As Europe's unofficial capital, the city boasts a wealth of high-end hotels for visiting diplomats, concentrated along glitzy Avenue Louise. Those looking for a low-budget option will find a host of hostels scattered around the Grand-Place and within walking distance to the city's main attractions.
