Jeanneke Pis, Brussels

Categories: Monuments, Tourist Spots
Inspirock Rating:
2/5 based on 750+ reviews on the web
A tougue-in-cheek counterpoint to the city's symbolic Manneken Pis statue, Jeanneke Pis depicts a young girl squatting and urinating. Erected in 1987 on a cul-de-sac down a narrow, less-travelled street, the statue is growing in popularity. If you've already snapped a few photos of the Manneken Pis (a centuries-old, centrally-located statue of a young boy urinating into a pool), consider snapping a photo, or two, of its female version to balance things out. You'll find the statue behind a cage near Rue des Bouchers in an alley. Use our Brussels family vacation planner to arrange your visit to Jeanneke Pis and other attractions in Brussels.

  • It is much more difficult to find this one than Manneken Pis even with your GPS Map App on your smart phone. It is on your right toward the end of a small isle with busy restaurants on your left. I am...  read more »
  • Equal rights. If we have the peeing boy, why didn't the girl too?? Here's Miss Jeanneke bringing luck to those who visit.

  • Yes, it is small, is behind a grid in an alley. However, I see an advantage: she attracts fewer tourists and therefore is easier to see and photograph. It is a tourist spot, but at least you're not jostling with each other to see something. In addition to being next to the Delirium, enabling you to take a quick stop for drinks before/after seeing it.

  • This is a nice statue in a very touristy part of the city. Less known than the Manneken Pis, she deserves more visitors. Very good nightlife nearby, with restaurants and nightclubs.
  • Highly entertaining. We got lucky and a city worker was renovating around the fountain and opened up the gate for us.
  • Belgium humor, so having the girl piss is great. However, she's not even peeing. Broken fountain behind locked bars. Why? That's so sad! Find the dog while you're at it.
  • The lesser known female counterpart of the famous Brussels statue. Not actually a 'fountain', and of similar scale. Behind a gate, and not illuminated, but interesting to see nonetheless.
  • A disappointing site, behind bars and not lit at all evenings. Similar size to Manneqin Pis (smaller than expected). Worth a visit only when entering Delirium.
