Jeanneke Pis, Brussels

2.1
#25 of 107 in Sightseeing in Brussels
Monument Tourist Spot
A tougue-in-cheek counterpoint to the city's symbolic Manneken Pis statue, Jeanneke Pis depicts a young girl squatting and urinating. Erected in 1987 on a cul-de-sac down a narrow, less-travelled street, the statue is growing in popularity. If you've already snapped a few photos of the Manneken Pis (a centuries-old, centrally-located statue of a young boy urinating into a pool), consider snapping a photo, or two, of its female version to balance things out. You'll find the statue behind a cage near Rue des Bouchers in an alley. Use our Brussels family vacation planner to arrange your visit to Jeanneke Pis and other attractions in Brussels.

  • Small and protected by bars. A lot of people piling up trying to get a picture. Without grace But if you are around here. You can get a beer on Delirium and watch her.

  • Don't go out of your way to see it. We only went because it was on of the stops on our free walking tours. Tiny and seriously fenced in, it's impossible to get good pictures of it  more »
  • Female version of the more famous Manneken is however less known and coveted by tourists while being in an alley in the city center. There you go for playing ... ...

  • If you thought the manneken pis was disappointing... wait till you see this. Locked behind a cage in a dingy alley, this statue is very lack lustre. Come take a quick look if you are planning to grab a drink at delirium.
  • It's not that easy to find where it is, however you would eventually find she if you use google maps. If you walk through a plaza which is one with fancy and golden decorations, it shouldn't too far from where you are. I think it's a really funning idea to have a boy and a girl pissing at different place.
  • A lesser known leaking statue of Brussels. Hidden in a small alleyway behind an iron fence, unlike her brother who is doing it in a cross roads and laughing.
  • Hard to see, easy to miss. Nothing lost if you skipped it just look at the pictures online.
  • Mannekin's sister. Hidden away and only discovered it because of the crowd. Like Mannekin, not much to look at really.

Where to stay in Brussels

It's easy to find accommodations in Brussels for nearly any budget. Tourists generally gravitate to the area surrounding Grand-Place, the city's main square. Also consider staying near Stephanie Square Centre and Boulevard de Waterloo, which are both centrally located. As Europe's unofficial capital, the city boasts a wealth of high-end hotels for visiting diplomats, concentrated along glitzy Avenue Louise. Those looking for a low-budget option will find a host of hostels scattered around the Grand-Place and within walking distance to the city's main attractions.
