Jeanneke Pis, Brussels

2.0
A tougue-in-cheek counterpoint to the city's symbolic Manneken Pis statue, Jeanneke Pis depicts a young girl squatting and urinating. Erected in 1987 on a cul-de-sac down a narrow, less-travelled street, the statue is growing in popularity. If you've already snapped a few photos of the Manneken Pis (a centuries-old, centrally-located statue of a young boy urinating into a pool), consider snapping a photo, or two, of its female version to balance things out. You'll find the statue behind a cage near Rue des Bouchers in an alley. Make Jeanneke Pis a part of your Brussels vacation plans using our Brussels trip builder site .

  • With the pee-pee kid separating the two little pee-pee little sister it's actually hidden in the alley, and it's surrounded by an iron fence, and it's very small, and it's hard to get a good picture with the dim light, suggesting that there's time to come back to this area, if you can just skip it.

  • I was a bit disappointed when I saw this statue because it is behind big red gates so you don't get a great view of it. But it is worth seeing as it is not far off from other tourist spots that are al...  more »
  • It is a small statue behind a fence that almost cannot be crowded that you can't see or take a picture

  • Didn't find any artistic value. Kind of sister replica of famous Manneken pis. Hard to find. Next to Delirum cafe.
  • Kind of lame. Dozens of tourists crowded into an alley to photograph this. It has merit from an artistic and feminism perspective but I doubt that's why the tourists are snapping selfies here.
  • Hard to find. Otherwise as great as a pissing statue can be. Manneken Pis had clothes on for some reason but Jeanneke was in her natural condition.
  • The fountain gate probably close at 6pm. Cant really see Jeanneke in the dark. Located right next to the so called seafood street.
  • Underrated, lesser known peeing statue. Would give 5-stars but i've never seen it with the fountain actually working.

Where to stay in Brussels

It's easy to find accommodations in Brussels for nearly any budget. Tourists generally gravitate to the area surrounding Grand-Place, the city's main square. Also consider staying near Stephanie Square Centre and Boulevard de Waterloo, which are both centrally located. As Europe's unofficial capital, the city boasts a wealth of high-end hotels for visiting diplomats, concentrated along glitzy Avenue Louise. Those looking for a low-budget option will find a host of hostels scattered around the Grand-Place and within walking distance to the city's main attractions.
