Grand Place, Brussels
(4.7/5 based on 20,000+ reviews on the web)
The center of Brussels, Grand Place forms an imposing square of opulent buildings, including the city hall. Dating back to 1523, the city's main square was listed as a World Heritage Site in 1998. Take in the grand architecture of the guild halls, and take a tour of city hall. The square houses the Museum of the City of Brussels and the Brewers Museum, both of which give a good impression of the essence of Brussels. Despite its relatively small size, the square attracts more visitors than any other attraction in the European capital. Before you head to Brussels, plan trip itinerary details with our user-friendly Brussels vacation builder, to make sure you see all that Brussels has to offer, including Grand Place.

  • It is a unique attraction that should not miss, especially at night, around you will find various shops to buy souvenirs, restaurants, chocolate by heaps! If you love chocolate as it is the best place, you'll find all the brands and flavors, nearby is the Museum of the chocolate, the most famous. At night the plaza has a spectacular lighting tone lilac, here you can find Spanish-speaking tourists, English or French, among others, very busy, it is not dangerous, I have not noted any problems with public safety. Known as the heart of Brussels!

  • The Grand Place is the heart of Brussels! Recognized heritage of humanity by UNESCO in 1998, it is the inevitable place in the Belgian capital. Whether day or night, it is to discover the gay pride... and more especially during the Christmas holiday, and other events where the facades of the buildings that surround it are illuminated by magnificent games of lights!

  • Interesting cultural experience, the market is divided into food (there are lots of exotic fruits here and interesting sights, spice stand is memorable and smells divine. The rest is heavily orientated to clothing and accessories, very little else, couple of toy vendors, a couple of phone case sellers. But most items are under a couple of euros. But as an experience it was a good walk and worth a visit.
  • I really liked this place. It really shows the architecture history and evolution of the Belgium architecture. I recommend to visit it at night. The illumination is impressive.
  • Nicknamed "the most beautiful square of the world" (by Belgians), it shows an impress array of historical buildings. The city hall steals the show, with its impressive non-symetrical tower topped by the logo of Brussels. There often is light shows at night. Don't miss the chance to pay a visit to the museum of Brussels, right in front. Obviously Brussels' History is quite modest, but the museum is nicely done.
  • Where: Grand Place - Brussels What: Central square of Brussels How was it: This place is amazing, flowers or not. Sadly we weren't there during the flowers but it's still quite spectacular. There was something about being surrounded by old architecture with accents of gold. The square and all of the small streets that lead up to it is amazing. Grade: Eli = 5, Serge = 5 Recommend: YES, go there and get lost in the many alleys that surround the square.
  • Great in terms of architecture. Very touristy most of the time. Neat to see in the evening
