Eglise Notre Dame Du Sablon, Brussels

4.5
Experience the opulence of Eglise Notre Dame Du Sablon, which has long been a place of worship for the elite of Brussels and serves as a remarkable example of Brabantine Gothic architecture. The land was first consecrated when the Noble Serment of Crossbowmen, a local guild, decided to turn their exercise space into a modest chapel. However, this humble church was replaced in the 15th century, with an interior that was completed in the 17th century. The cathedral is covered in carved reliefs and ornate masonry, while the interior reflects the efforts of the wealthy families to bring the richness of daily life to the church service with gilded Baroque chapels. The fanciful wood carvings on the altar and pulpit are the work of a 19th-century artist, Auguste Schoy. After a church tour, sample some of the sweets from the surrounding chocolate shops. • On the outside it seems a cathedral in miniature, with large windows and a balanced interior. It is worth a visit, not far from the Center. Ademáss is located in a plaza that make a flea market in the mornings with second hand antiques, and the neighborhood is filled with antique shops.

  • I was told it was a must, but I thought it was normal. But it's worth it to go mostly to enjoy a wonderful garden in front-garden of the Palace du Sablon.

  • Climbing 30 uphill from central station, next to the square. A monument on the site, was a distinctive look. Walking in the street in this area, because there is a lot of furniture stores, walking is also good.

  • I was really impressed. I think it's best to be visited morning when sun finds its way through the stained glass windows.
  • Our Blessed Lady of the Sablon Church is very beautiful big Catholic church in late Gotic style! It dates back from the 15th century. The interior is worth a visit! It is characterized by its late Brabantine Gothic exterior and rich interior decoration including two Baroque chapels.
  • Nice upper-class church. The heater is on whenever it's cold outdoor which makes it cosy too.
  • Really beautiful relocated's church dedicated to Our Lady
  • Another architectural marvel and tucked away gem of Brussels.
