  • Belgian King Leopold II was a great versatile on the part of the architecture. One of his ideas was to create "ethnic Park", which was supposed to consist of buildings in exotic styles. The source of this idea was the 1900 world's fair in Paris, which was similar to the Pavilion. However, further Japanese tower and Chinese pavilion, which was built for the year 1909, the case does not matter. The King soon lost interest in his vision, and then completely "gave the Chinese pavilion and the Japanese tower nation." Nation of time thinking about what to do with these gifts (at different times there were housed a restaurant, a temporary exhibition on the Belgian-Japanese economic relations and the like), and only after the second world war in these premises placed Museum Arts of the far East (China and Japan). To utter regret a few years ago the Museum was temporarily closed due to inadequate facilities. When restoration is completed exactly is still unknown. So at the moment the Japanese tower can be explore only outside. Despite some deviation from the canons, the Japanese tower is close to Japanese prototypes. Although the author of the project was a European (French architect Francois Marcel), part of the decorative elements were made by order of the Japanese masters. So caught in this corner of Brussels you can imagine that you are somewhere in Kyoto. And here is the Chinese pavilion less is authentic, and more like the European shinuazeriju ("kitayschinu") 18 century, than genuine Chinese architecture.
