Folklore Museum, Bruges

(4.1/5 based on 300+ reviews on the web)
Housed inside a row of 17th-century single-room houses, Folklore Museum showcases everyday life in 19th- and 20th-century Bruges. Inside the houses you walk through a classroom, pharmacy, millinery, grocery, and bedroom. Each space is decorated with pieces collected from all over the city in an attempt to recreate authentic environments. In good weather, you can play traditional folk games on one of the terraces and in the internal garden. Every room is full of artifacts, such as hand-carved pipes and tobacco paraphernalia, so take your time investigating. Another highlight is the lace exhibit in the attic. Purchase tickets upon arrival and begin your self-guided tour. If the attraction is crowded, you may have to shuffle through with a group along designated pathways through the museum's interior, but you can use any delay as an opportunity to photograph favorite displays. • This museum is located in a building which used to house poor craftsmen had a one-room house. Now you walk from room to room where getting another craft is depicted. It's about life in the beginning of the twentieth century, really not that long ago, but what a lot has changed! For the adults there is a booklet to per room information. For the children there is a special activity (now specifically to questions at checkout!) leaving a knapsack with supplies in most of the rooms to get a command to do so. This will earn them than one or more Belgian francs. At the end they deliver that in and get them a small reward:) In the museum, children can also still old fashioned games. The museum café is also recommended, because for a very reasonable price you can drink local beers and soft drinks.

  • A charming museum. It's a row of small houses converted into small rooms displaying professions and aspects of life in 19th/20th century Bruges. There's a garden, a resident black cat and a small cafe. It's worth a visit, also to wander around the surrounding area, which is picturesque and away from the tourist crowds in the city centre.
  • Arriving in Bruges, travelers want to plunge into the authentic atmosphere of this city. And it can be found in places with history and often a little outside of the normal route. One such place, Volkskundemuseum Museum Cafe "Zwarte Kat", recreated the Interior of the Café of the beginning of the 20th century, which was going and going to the society of lovers of literature
