  • Since everything has to do with war not really interests me and I therefore certainly no money to give, I visited this point of interest on Open monuments day, then there is no entrance fee money to pay. Prepare enough for that if you step to this location to visit, you back out comes with a feeling of tightness and a thought of "How is it possible that people have been able to something" for the full 100% my title covers the load for this kind. If you have a sensitive human being, I have warned. Keep just way better.

  • It was thanks to all the TripAdvisor reviews that we went to this little-publicised museum, and it is as moving, as worthwhile and as clearly presented as all previous reviews suggest. A visit we will...  more »

  • Fort Breendonk is one of the best forts to visit in Belgium for any historian or history enthusiast interested in WWI and WWII. Most of the fort is still in the same condition, walking through the fort is the closest one will get to what it might have been like to be there way back when. Overall an excellent place to visit.
  • Sobering reality of how the World responded to a group of unloved people. May we never again...

  • Google's definition of "Loved it" as a rating doesn't quite accurately describe how I feel about this place. "Hated it" is probably more accurate, but I can't express that I hated it and give it 5/5 stars at the same time. I've been here twice now, and both times I've felt like this is an important site that everyone needs to visit, and with the audio guide you'll probably end up doing the site in silence. Perhaps the audio tour has become a little long-winded as the museum has grown, and by the end of the tour once you return to the visitor centre you might find yourself suffering information overload and an overwhelming sense of despair to the point where you won't want to go through what happened after the liberation of Belgium, the Mechelen trials, and so forth. Stick with it, get what you can out of it, because the characters introduced on the tour paint a picture of the most horrible period of our recent history. You'll only need to come once, but you need to come.
  • Very interesting place if you want to learn about history
