  • Unlike many castles in Europe, the castle in Bouillon was not built as a show-off house for some wealthy nobility. It is much older and truly functioned to control a centuries old trade route. This me...  more »

  • A truly amazing medieval style castle. The original castle, of one of the most important Crusader princes Godfrey of Bouillon, it has been well preserved over the years and has been very little modernized internally. With a small ticket price, you can walk for hours in the maze of rooms and dungeons within the castle, as well as, on the ramparts offering amazing view of the surrounding area. In addition to this, 3 times a day, there is a show with hunting birds (eagle, hawk, etc.) for free. During the rest of the time, the birds are in their own area still accessible for visitors. A must visit place for someone who enjoys medieval castles and history.
  • A very castle-y castle. We didn't have a guide or anything, but it was fun to wander through its many winding tunnels and staircases. The view from the top is incredible—as, incidentally, is the view of the castle looking up at it from town. Very much worth how out-of-the-way it is.
  • Went at night just after Christmas to a night walk around the castle. Got a torch and was led by a man in full armour as we toured the grounds. They were so accommodating - the two of us were the only English speakers in a group of about 30 but they still managed to find enough people that were bilingual so we could get the tour as well. They really went out of their way to include us which meant so much to me considering how much I love castles. The castle was also stunning, and one of the most well-fortified structures I've ever seen.
  • An historical castle in the middle of a great natural environment. Entrance is cheap and you can wander freely around and feel ancient history. I remove one star as the birds of prey located at the castle have very little freedom.
  • Fantastisch kasteel. Zeer leuke roofvogelshow inbegrepen in je ticket (zowel in het Nederlands als het Engels). Van boven heb je een prachtig zicht op het idyllische Bouillon.
