Mardasson Memorial, Bastogne

(4.5/5 based on 500+ reviews on the web)
Distinctive for its pentagram shape and its interior gallery, Mardasson Memorial commemorates the over 76,000 American soldiers who fell in the Battle of the Bulge. Go inside the atrium to see 10 paintings that depict the battle; around the exterior you'll see engravings of the names of the 50 U.S. states and the battalions that fought in the battle. The Latin inscription on the memorial stone translates as, "The Belgian people remember their American liberators--July 4, 1946." Walk down into the crypt below the memorial to see three altars, each representing a prominent religion in the battalions: Protestant, Catholic, and Judaism. Consider a visit to the history museum near the memorial to learn more about the World War II era. • Magnificent building devoted to the American soldiers for their sacrifices during the fighting during the battle of the bulge. Designed in the shape of five stars to recall the emblem of U.S. combat units with the names of American States. On the top of the structure of the stelae, showing the various communes and their situations compared to the site during the battle. A chapel complete the places

  • Always a lot on the Mardasson. Left the pushchair to the baby down the stairs without fear. A great view from here - above.

  • instead of memories, strong and emotional. The Museum is interactive, with the audioguide which tells the story of this battle of 4 views (people) different that will cross despite them. I highly recommend it. There is also the star memorial was outside. You can complete the visit with another small museum on the 501 near airborne.

  • Visit anytime as it is a treat. Climb the stairs and visit all five points of the star to get a map of the battle in that direction. Read the story inside of the monument's columns to get an idea of the battle. Take a minute to consider everything before going to visit the wonderful town of Bastogne. This is a great starting or stopping point for any battlefield tours.
  • Worth a visit when in the Bastogne War Museum.
  • Beautiful memorial, huge as our gratitude to the Americans. And great view of the surroundings.
