  • We arrived a bit by accident, we had not imagined to spend the afternoon, but in the end, we were totally overwhelmed. Do not come to Bastogne Barracks if looking for a cinematic vision, if you want 3D, sound effects, systems guides by infrared headphones, or smoke... This is the authenticity that premium. It is staged, exposed, restored in the respect of historical events. But beyond the tens of thousands of objects in the collection, dozens of vehicles in working condition (some unique as this German III stug), beyond these dioramas reconstructed in detail, in full compliance with photos the time, which will have really marked us, all 4, it's the incredible passion that animates these guides. Passion they put in the service of the story and they give us, inevitably. Our guide for the day, Olivier of Bastogne, has spared no efforts, pacing with us these square kilometres of exposure for the millionth time, he makes it a point to send us everything he knows, and he learned from the mouth of the veterans. Its culture is not bookish, she comes from the testimonies of those who have actually experienced the events. He puts an incredible energy, without ever getting himself forward. At certain points of his remarks, we are surprised to be overwhelmed by emotion. For example, when he tells this unexpected meeting between 2 veterans, an American, the other German, more than 70 years after the events that have opposed them. I've visited many museums, blockhouse, exhibitions, monuments. Rarely, if ever, I was also impressed. The worst is probably that it is fragile because it relies on the shoulders, energy and even personal collections, of a few that deserve stronger support on the part of their officials, Belgian Government or elected offices. If they were on the spot, they would see how the contribution of these some crazy history is huge for Bastogne, for the Belgium and for history. A visit (and do visit...) absolutely if you are interested in history and the second world war. Especially that, icing on the cake, this experience is completely free for visitors! Avoid only if you believe that Call of Duty has an ounce of historical realism.

This House become a Museum of military vehicles of all armies renovated on-site all in working order, the reconstructive cellars of real historical scenes with mannequins in uniforms (pictures time d a l support) Olivier our guide we have fact shared his passion but also his knowledge he knows taking his time for good or present this SADLY unsung place we spent with him 2:30 without us realizing I would highly recommend this tour

  • The best and most informative museum in Bastogne by far. It's free to visit however you need to check what time that you need to turn up for a tour. The parking outside was easy and when you walk up to the gate don't forget to be sensible as this is a working barracks with sentries on the gate. The Sgt who took us around was very entertaining and speaks English, French and German.
  • Extremely cool! The tour guide was so informative and extremely friendly. He told us about the war of the bulge before we started which was great as I only knew a bit. There were so many vehicles it was wonderful. For those with limited mobility there are stairs. The tour is in French or English and starts at 2pm sharp as it is an active barracks they do not have the luxury of all day tours. Also it's free. ♥️
  • For the world war 2 enthusiast this is a must see. Lots of war history and memorabilia. The military vehicles display is very nice especially the tanks.
  • One of the better WWII museums in Bastogne. Did the tour with guide. Focus in on Easy company's stay during WWII in the barracks. Also some modern army vehicles in the exhibition.
  • Fantastic place to visit. Guided tours in English. If you go to Bastogne, you have to visit the barracks. It is a must do.
