  • Steen Castle is located 15 minutes ' walk from the very heart of Antwerp-Grote Markt on the banks of the river Scheldt and is one of the oldest if not the oldest, the construction of the city. A small castle, from a distance it seems fake and impression, probably due to its perfect appearance and hilarious, slightly awkward, greeted the visitors at the entrance of Dolgovjazomu Vappereau (the character of local folklore). Within the walls of the Castle it is possible to distinguish two types of masonry-lower, more dark and slightly feverish, respectively, and the longer and smoother top-light. Apparently Castle or completed or restored during the reign of much later than its foundations. I would like to note that in different weather, Steen produces different impression. In cloudy Castle too grey and seems Moody or even faceless. In clear-draws the opposite mood. That anticlimactic: going to the territory of the Castle (entrance absolutely free), you understand that by and large have no per se. Nothing there. Some simple and easy. Inside we don't hit the walls of the Castle nowadays, it seems, the Maritime Museum in both of our visits was closed. Recommend see Steen can-it is in the Centre, looks good and good examination at all desire will not take much time. But for these "locking" impressions recommend a trip to Ghent and wander through the beautiful Gravensteen.
