Uspensky Cathedral, Vitebsk

See the biggest bell in Belarus, weighing 4,716 kg (5.2 tons), in a belfry of Uspensky Cathedral. The first cathedral was erected in the 18th century on the site of a smaller church and much earlier pagan shrine. It was destroyed and rebuilt many times. Climb to the observation deck to get an aerial view of the city. On the north wall of the cathedral, you'll discover a memorial plate dedicated to people whose remains were found on site during the restoration works. They were most likely victims of the Soviet secret police or the Gestapo. The remains are buried near the church. Patriarchal Exarch of All Belarus consecrated the new cathedral in 2011. Were there in the thirteenth year, and here again we decided to visit this place pulls here and everything here, majestic, standing on the shore-it is a symbol of human faith. The Cathedral is beautiful and the inside and outside.

Svyato-uspensky Cathedral impresses with its grandeur, although not only external monumentality and grandeur of the temple, but also the internal décor that bright light and warmth envelops the Cathedral, blessing parishioners on good deeds.

The huge size of the Cathedral on the Hill visible, it seems, from any point of the city. Treated better by Krylova, from other directions will have to climb the long stairs. Within the total, everything is pretty normal.
