Ruzhany Palace is a ruined palace compound in Ruzhany village, Pruzhany Raion, Brest Voblast, Western Belarus. Between the 16th and 19th centuries Ruzhany, then called Różany, was the main seat of the senior line of the Sapieha noble family, known as the ''''. The castle is currently under systematic reconstruction, with the palace ornate gate and entry building being already restored.HistoryRuzhany began its life in the late 16th century as the site of Lew Sapieha's castle, the palace being completed in 1602. The Sapieha residence was destroyed in the course of the internecine strife in the Grand Duchy of Lithuania when it was attacked by Michał Serwacy Wiśniowiecki's forces in 1700.Ruzhany Palace was rebuilt as a grand Neoclassical residence in the 1770s by Aleksander Michał Sapieha, employing the services of the architect Jan Samuel Becker of Saxony, who set the palace in an English park landscape. Aside from the palace, there was a theatre (1784–88), an orangery and several other outbuildings. Becker also designed the local church (rebuilt in the 1850s).

  • Were 4 years with my daughter. She arranged quest-treasure hunt:) climbed the ruins for a long time. There's of course all the overgrown high grass, but it's worth seeing.

  • Were family. Before visiting hadn't even heard of this place. Building admires. But there are a few downsides. In the ruins of the need to walk carefully, not because of possible collapse, and not to engage in a bunch of * Aries. And most importantly, it's what restored part, like everything in this locality, lives guided by the principle of "war-torn, and lunch on schedule". When visiting you should consider the fact that in 3 Café (restaurant), one works with 18.00, second at 4 km from the Castle and works with a lunch break (lunch we could not), and the third near the Castle, bearing in mind that it is only available during the day, often on weekends is at specobsluzhivanii.
