At Victory Park, walk along the shore of a lake complete with sculptures and fountains that commemorate victory over the Nazis. The park was due to open on June 22, 1941, but on that same day Nazi Germany attacked the USSR. Notice the obelisk at the entrance dedicated to Minsk's heroes. See the victory fountain, which has 53 granite elements representing the number of divisions that liberated Minsk. Attractions include a beach, bicycle trails, a health trail, and a children’s playground. Cross a little bridge to get to a bird island--a wildlife reserve--that is home to a variety of birds, including some rare species.
