The New Castle, Grodno

2.8
#10 of 17 in Historic Sites in Grodno
Polish kings of the 18th century spent their summers at The New Castle. The castle forms an architectural complex with the old castle set on the other side of an arch bridge. The castles are home to the city’s historical and archaeological museum. The museum features about 7,000 artifacts, including artwork, old printed and handwritten books, weapons, icons, and religious items. Look for the relief of a Soviet coat of arms on the pediment of the main entrance. A sculpture of a mythical chthonic creature perched on the main gate represents a woman with a lioness body carrying a little boy on her back. • Visited the Museum Exposition in New Castle and were pleasantly surprised by the exhibits (quite diverse and truly valuable). As it turns out the Tin just opened: Hrodna border town and if the Customs detain art objects that export smuggling and special services cannot find the true owner, these art objects or antiques shall be distributed by the Special Commission on museums. And apparently in this museum is distributed not bad) Museum exhibits) big enough, but not huge, you can safely go through all the rooms, rather than flee, as it happens in large museums. We have two one audioguide. It's not expensive and watch fun)) Museum is decorated quite modern. Liked the Museum workers. They are some satisfied and not zatjukannye. In General, left a very good impression of the Museum.

  • Walking around the neighborhood, after a visit to the old Castle and the Museum it was not passed by the new castle. Inside is not entered, were twisting in the yard and went for a walk on. Given that in the great patriotic war it was severely damaged, not much surprised Soviet architectural style, which modified the Castle. He is not fit, while the beauty of the Castle, still it would be great if someday Yeo was restored as it was originally. Inside is the Museum Exposition.

  • Two castles old and new. Two era totally different architectural styles and probably so interesting. Architects tried to and combined them in a single ensemble. Locks between an exceptional match. Of course from the original new castle practically nothing left. War and further restructuring of the late Baroque made it in neoclassical style. Still, the idea of architects and further implementation of delights for all the changes. Worth watching and definitely not be disappointed.

  • A bit too modern building, but worth a visit as it has been the centrepiece of a lot of historical events in Polish and Belarusian history, including the last sejm
  • We got a voucher for a free entrance to the Castle. A lot of the confusion we called in support from this paper. Threw us from person to person. As with Bareja in movies. as I entered it it seems a lot of tourists there will. But as we walked to the individual halls it is mature lady from the just raised and turn on the light. The exhibition in the Soviet style. Beautiful Polish painting, beautiful products from ancient ages and right next to Zoology, dried plants and stuffed birds and immediately next to the Patriotic War of 1941 and the possibilities of the Belarusian army. It is unknown as to what. This some frame highlighted that, like an aquarium visit. "Lavatory" sorry for the expression, do not have any "zapadniego". Interesting fact because something such haven't yet seen. A person with a disability to actually be able to take care of them. Besides Ford, stink and. .... War of the ojczyźniania is the main topic. Even for free I do not recommend.

  • Interesting architecture, a lot of Polish accents throughout the Castle. In addition to this, we had a "Guide":), a local of Polish descent, he knew so much, and he talked so interesting, that grief was to part with it and I have to admit, that showed us Castle and a few other places in Grodno in just 5 hours and found that if wanted us to show only the most interesting places of Grodno, you'd have to be at least 5 days.

  • Historical place ... I would like more access to view and visit ... A lot of wedding cars. Prevents the tourists. We must not ignore so close to historical places.

  • Such a good place, and there's no good exhibitions. Aya-Ay. If you know how to move, the seat could be popular not only among photographers, but also among young people.
