Kalozha Church Boris-Gleb Church, Grodno

(4.9/5 based on 110+ reviews on the web)
Observe colorful geometrical ornaments and crosses made of stones and tiles on the exterior walls of Kalozha Church Boris-Gleb Church. This 12th-century church is distinguished from other Orthodox churches by its building and decorative techniques. Walk on the majolica floor made of yellow, green, and brown plates. Notice numerous ceramic pitchers built into the upper part of the walls. The southern wooden wall replaced the old brick one, which was destroyed by a landslide. Look for fragments of 12th-century frescoes in the apses. The church has been included in the World Heritage Tentative List. • When walked on Grodno could not visit this place era of ancient Russia. Amazing location on the high Bank of the Neman River. Inside a very cool, you can see the frescoes of the pre-Mongol period. According to the legend, here the walls of this church buried the famous David Gródnenskij, statesman and military leader of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, one of the main commanders of the Lithuanian Grand Duke Gediminas, Castellan of Hrodna. Not the victim nor a single defeat in battles with the Crusaders.

  • It is a very different place an extraordinary church with an atmosphere of the origins of the city. I am sure having some spirit that protects it. It is located on a hill from which to be unforgettable views over the city and the river that runs down.
