Lights Alley, Brest
(4.8/5 based on 110+ reviews on the web)
Walk down , where each lantern sculpture tells a story. Each gas lamp is part of an elaborate piece of metal artwork that pays homage to everyday people. Sit in an old carriage or on a bench below a little cupid with an arrow. See a giant nose sticking out from an officer's collar, illustrating a satire by famous Russian writer Nikolai Gogol. Other sculptures include a little shoe shiner, an artist's easel, a tradesman selling pretzels, and more. At sunset, the lamplighter starts turning up the lanterns by hand. You can watch a light show from one of the many small cafes nearby. Arrange your visit to Lights Alley and discover more family-friendly attractions in Brest using our Brest vacation planner.

  • Gogolya Street in Brest became bright and the most visited among the guests of the city. There are many nonstandard statues. Excellent background for photo sessions. Recommend.

  • A very interesting place. Very original lamps made by request of the different enterprises of the city. It is particularly interesting to walk in the dark.

  • Essentially two different avenues in Brest, and the feedback they sometimes get confused. Gogolya Street with lights-sculptures on motive of the writer (ranging from Lenin St.) and simply interesting lights (near the intersection with St. Soviet and Millennium Monument of Brest). The second interesting is a pedestrian alley Sovetskaya Street, especially its part where every evening a Lamplighter lighting kerosene lanterns. Watch, at which time lights-lighting sets a Lamplighter, installed at the beginning of the street. Soviet, near the intersection with PR. Masherova. About Lamplighter stops and photographed with all interested persons. But when turn on illumination, kerosene lamps are already "lost" come better towards the beginning. Stroll is very interesting for both paths.
