Lights Alley, Brest
(4.8/5 based on 110+ reviews on the web)
Walk down , where each lantern sculpture tells a story. Each gas lamp is part of an elaborate piece of metal artwork that pays homage to everyday people. Sit in an old carriage or on a bench below a little cupid with an arrow. See a giant nose sticking out from an officer's collar, illustrating a satire by famous Russian writer Nikolai Gogol. Other sculptures include a little shoe shiner, an artist's easel, a tradesman selling pretzels, and more. At sunset, the lamplighter starts turning up the lanterns by hand. You can watch a light show from one of the many small cafes nearby. Arrange your visit to Lights Alley and discover more family-friendly attractions in Brest using our Brest vacation planner.

  • Gogol Street is a good place for hiking from the fortress to the city centre. The street lights were installed, many of which are made in explanation of works of Nikolai Gogol. It is interesting to children and adults. Suitable for both day and evening walks.
