Brest Railway Station Building, Brest

4.0
#5 of 13 in Sightseeing in Brest Region
Landmark Tourist Spot
See a Neoclassical waiting hall in its original 19th-century design at Brest Railway Station Building. The Russian emperor, Alexander III, led the opening ceremony from the platform of the new station in the summer of 1886. The architectural complex was damaged during the two world wars and has been restored several times. Notice the red Soviet star that crowns the highest tower of the complex. A big portion of the large square in front of the station serves as a parking lot. The station also features a modern waiting hall, built in 1975. • Brest railway station over the past 10 years has undergone significant changes. Removed redundant buildings, all cleaned and built new platforms. Very comfortable waiting room, there are even VIP-Hall. On the street there are iron figures and fountains. Minus-fiddly entering and exiting cars. Large distance between the car and the platform. Always remember about this, because scary fall.

Where to stay in Brest

While the city of Brest is still sizeable, it does'nt boast the abundance of accommodations that its big brother, Minsk, does. While lodging type is more or less limited to hotels, they vary in price and offerings. Hostels and a guesthouse or two provide some budget accommodation in and near the center. Most hotels and hostels will arrange to register you as a foreigner with the police. If you rent an apartment-style accommodation, make sure to check in advance whether or not your host will do so. Without registration, you can stay in Belarus for only five business days.
