Fun & Games Sports Complex
The Kensington Oval is a stadium located to the west of the capital city Bridgetown on the island of Barbados. It is the pre-eminent sporting facility on the island and is primarily used for cricket. Locally referred to as "The Mecca" of cricket, it has hosted many important and exciting cricket games between local, regional, and international teams during its more than 120-year history.HistoryCricket at the Oval began in 1882 when the Pickwick Cricket Club assumed formal ownership of the ground. The first international match held was in 1895 when Slade Lucas' side visited the island. The first Test match was held in January 1930, when the West Indies and England played to a draw. Since the genesis there have been a total of 43 Test matches played on the Kensington Oval grounds, 21 of those matches won by the West Indian cricket team. The new stadium has been commemorated through two 2007 Barbadian postage stamps.Oval Redevelopment 2005–2007Structures and facilitiesThe stands of the Kensington Oval were extensively rebuilt for the 2007 Cricket World Cup in a BDS$90M (US$45 Million) redevelopment. Demolition of the old stadium began on schedule in June, 2005 after completion of the first Test against Pakistan. The names of the former stands which made up the Kensington stadium were the George Challenor stand, the Hall and Griffith, the Kensington, the Mitchie Hewitt, the Pickwick, and the Three Ws stand plus the Peter Short Media Centre. Most of these names have been retained.

  • The Mecca of regional cricket. The historic Kensington Oval is a premier cricket stadium with modern facilities did the host to shows, and the occasional football (soccer) game. This is the venue where Rihanna preformed a few years ago for her adoring home fans. Centrally located in Bridgetown. There's also a statue of the islands and world's greatest cricket all rounder of all time and arguably (not much of an argument he just is) the greatest cricketer of all time. His statue is located just outside of the main entrench where visitors can take photos.
  • Really good facilities with fantastic views. The history of the cricket grounds is very intriguing.
  • The Mecca of cricket in the caribbean. Come see the West indies test their wits and mettle against the Barmy Army, the Aussies or the Indians. Enjoy a day at the Oval as we contest thew CPLT20 or any of the other more conventionla forms of the game. Rub shoulders with some of the great cricketers of the past or just chat with locals or visitors.
  • Its remake is remarkable, love its new design and outlook appearance, its finish is very professional, its an international cricket ground and its a very popular one known for scoring high numbers for runs in cricket. Its history is wonderful as a cricket ground....its located in the West Indies in the island of Barbados and its location on the island is very satisfying for tourist and visitors.
  • Private tour of the ground costs US$10 per person and is well worth it.
