Garrison Savannah, Bridgetown
(4.4/5 based on 300 reviews on the web)
Experience some Barbadian horse racing at Garrison Savannah, known internationally for hosting the Barbados Gold Cup. Horse racing on the historic savannah has taken place since 1845, when members of the British Regiment used the area to match their own horses. The club, established in 1905, has since developed into a 6 furlong (1,207 m) vibrant green track surrounded by bustling spectator stands. Refresh yourself with cold coconut water accompanied by pudding and souse, then head into the lively crowds to place a bet and feel the thrill of the race. • Beautiful historic British Garrison, preserved and and in wonderful condition. Old parade ground is now a horse race course and rugby ground. Wonderful to see the races every other Saturday! Try a snow cone while you are there, delicious!
  • Historic colonial fort and armaments. The Barbados museum is onsite and the defence force and canon collection are walking distance away.
  • A fun little place to have a picnic. There was plenty of room for the kids to run about and it was neat to see the historical reenactment done by the guard.
  • A really good place to hangout or take a jog. Also a great place to play Pok√©mon go.
  • Very nice. Very personal feel to the track. You can get very close to the track... You can actually get onto the track.
