See how a variety of cultural influences have affected the architectural style of Hindu temples at Puthia Temple Complex, a lakeside complex built by the Putha Raj family. Pay attention to the influences of Vaishnavism at the Govinda Temple, dedicated to Lord Krishna, where terracotta ornaments portray the romance between Krishna and Radha. Continue to Shiva Temple, where you can see incredible stone carvings and sculptures, which have sadly been disfigured over the years. You can still see the monumental Shiva linga inside the temple; during the Bangladesh Liberation War, the Pakistani army wanted to break the Shiva linga, but they didn’t succeed as they couldn’t move it. Compare these buildings with Jagannath temple, a prime example of Bengali architecture, then cap off your visit by relaxing near the lake.
