4.8/5 based on 240+ reviews on the web
Swim into the depths of Thunderball Grotto and discover what attracted Hollywood to this spot (bringing James Bond here in 1965), lending the rock formation its name. This cavernous beauty adopts the features of an aquatic cathedral, a shimmering limestone dome roof full of naturally formed holes allow the sun to beam through and illuminate the crystal clear waters below. Snorkel through one of the many entrances and admire the coral and brightly colored tropical fish that share your surroundings. Its important to time your visit to coincide with the tides; if you’re an inexperienced snorkeler pick up a local guide to ensure safe passage. • I thought this was going to be a bit overrated, with it being THE Thunderball grotto, but I was very impressed... beautiful turquoise blue waters and exciting, adventurous swimming / diving from insid...  read more »
  • Awesome snorkel spot. We loved taking photos with the amazing fish. Bring some crackers, you'll see thousands all around you. Careful as the tides come an go if you're not with a guide.
  • Hundreds of fish, beautiful rock formation - wonderful snorkeling site. We spent at least two hours on our first trip and returned several times throughout our stay at Staniel Cay.
  • Awesome fun for those who enjoy snorkeling! Lots of marine life & tons of photo and video opportunities. Somewhat advanced, so it may not be a great idea for people who are new to snorkeling or swimming :( The rock walls surrounding the semi-submerged entrance are very sharp, so don't touch & watch your head! I'd recommend bringing dive gloves if possible along with mask, snorkel & fins at a minimum. Bucket list type trip & well worth a visit!!
  • Amazing snorkeling experience. Saw lots of fish including a lion fish. If you go at low tide it could be very crowded. However take great care if you go at any other time.
  • Magnificent! (Though, can be crowded.)
  • Excellent snorkelling. Not the largest area, but an incredible setting. Well worth a visit.
  • Amazing!!! A once in a lifetime must-do!
