Gold Rock Beach, Lucayan National Park
Categories: Beaches, Nature & Parks, Outdoor Activities
Secluded Gold Rock Beach is famous for its state at low tide, when its shoreline extends for yards into the sea--affording it the nickname of Grand Bahama Island's "welcome mat." A part of the national park, it lies next to the longest underground cave system in the world. Don on some sturdy shoes and venture of into the caves or bring along your snorkel and explore the crystal waters. The longer way from the parking to the beach is through the mangroves, but you can take a shortcut over the wood-slatted bridge. Bring large towels, snacks, and lots of water, since the amenities include only barbecue pits, benches, and picnic tables.
