Count Basie Square, Freeport
(3.4/5 based on 380+ reviews on the web)
Get to the heart of Bahamian cultural life at Count Basie Square, a public plaza hosting live music events in the evenings. By day, explore the stores, restaurants, and bars surrounding the peaceful square. Do a little souvenir shopping, and then refuel at one of the varied eateries. After dark, the plaza transforms into a hub of local entertainment. The speakers here get turned up loud, so be prepared to be a little overwhelmed at first. Arrange to visit Count Basie Square and other attractions in Grand Bahama Island using our Grand Bahama Island travel itinerary maker.

  • We absolutely love the music on Fridays and Saturdays. Great time meeting new friends and dancing in the evening. Wish we could've here for the Christmas tree lighting
  • Lots of different vendors, so you can bargain with them! Be prepared to have them come up to you and drag you into the space for a sale.
  • When I drive into Freeport from West End, I typically lunch or dine at one of the many Port Lucaya restaurants and have never had a bad meal. The straw market is also fun.
