Queens Bath, Eleuthera

4.5
#5 of 12 in Nature in Eleuthera
Unwind and soak in the sound of dramatic waves crashing against the rocky shore as you dip into Queens Bath, a natural rock pool a whisker away from the open ocean. Fresh clear water from the Caribbean Sea fills the pool as it flows over the rock. It remains constantly warm thanks to a combination of its depth and the sun's rays. Visit during low or medium tide to swim during the safest conditions. Bring shoes or sandals to protect your feet as you will travel across the rocks. • Quaint place near the Glass Window Bridge, with natural pools formed by the waves of the sea. If you are in Eleuthera you must go there!

  • Dramatic backdrop of the Atlantic crashing into limestone cliffs of Eleuthera. Serves as a great geography lesson into how the craggy landscape develops over eons and eons. Atlantic was angry while we were there, cutting off the cliff walk down to the baths. We were able to view from the cliff top, 20 to 30 feet up. As you can see, the waves were washing out any hope of hiking down. Note: The "baths" are tide and ocean calmness based. There is very little signage and you may pass right by when heading north. There is a small pull off that can handle 3, maybe 4 cars max. There's no "map" or "route" marked. Just hike out to the ocean and turn left. You'll find it.
  • Really amazing! There is a small pathway once you get to the top of the rock path. By pathway, I mean rocks sort of in the center to the left that descend down slightly for you to follow down. Wear hard bottom swim shoes or closed toe Crocs/clogs. Do NOT wear flip flops (if you wear sneakers bring swim shoes to change into before getting in the water). Keep your swim shoes on as there are lots of sea urchins. Although harmless, stepping or sitting on one is painful. They do not impede you being able to enjoy yourself relaxing as they stay pretty much inside the rocks in the water. Just watch your step. If you are going with a child 3 and under, I suggest having a carrier on your back. Saw some people with their kids and were really struggling to carry a child on a hip or have the child walk on the rocks. Really worth experiencing!
  • The hick is real but it's worth it
