Dean's Blue Hole, Clarence Town

(4.7/5 based on 200+ reviews on the web)
The world's deepest known salt water blue hole, Dean's Blue Hole is a spectacular sight and yours to explore from land or water. A deep abyss plunges 202 m (663 ft) into the ocean's bed within a calm turquoise lagoon, a memorable spot for snorkelling and a beautiful site from the surrounding cliffs. Snow white sands surround the bay and lead to the dramatic underwater drop, its diameter starting at around 30 m (98.4 ft) and after a short descent widening to a cavernous 100 m (328 ft) mouth. Within the twinkling depths, shoals of tarpon, ray, and seahorse play as you make your way through this eerily mesmerising natural wonder. A visit to Dean's Blue Hole represents just the start of the adventure when you use our Long Island itinerary planner to plot your vacation.

  • We stayed near Clarence Town for several weeks so we visited the Blue Hole several times. There is plenty of beach beyond the hole to walk on, clear shallow water to play in, the blue hole to swim in ...  more »
  • I was curious to see what people were saying about Dean's Blue Hole now since I experienced this back in 2001. Sounds like there's been no real change over the years since it's off the "beaten path" o...  more »
  • I see another reviewer describes this sight as "subtle." That may be an understatement -- one sign on the main road, no concessions. When we visited, the beach was clean and welcoming. The water is so...  more »
