Stop by and admire Tatik u Papik, a national symbol of Armenian heritage sculpted out of the native volcanic rock, tufa. Designed in a typical Soviet style of the 1960s, the sculpture depicts an old Karabakh man and woman. Climbing up to the hilltop monument will also reward you with an encompassing view of the surrounding area. Near the bottom of the hill, vendors sell miniature replicas of the monument and other souvenirs. This is an outdoor sculpture at the outskirts of the city. It is easy to reach but does not offer much. There are a few souvenir stalls catering to the tour buses stopping here.
Not much to see in town. It was a nice ride, but I would pass if I knew how horrid the roads are. The souvenir sellers had good prices.
