(4.2/5 based on 50+ reviews on the web)
Bake bread, weave, or forge iron the ancient way and explore a pre-historical dwelling at Qala Archaeological and Ethnographic Museum Complex. This open-air museum complex details Azeri history since the 3rd millennium BCE. Spanning 1.2 hectares (3 acres), the complex also has a large collection of petroglyphs, tambourine stones, ceramics, clothing items, weapons, and coins excavated in the area of the Absheron Peninsula. Central to the location is a well-preserved 10th-14th century stone fortress with a 13.8 m (45 ft) tall tower and restored traditional rooms featuring carpets and a sizable collection of silverware, tea-brewing equipment, and horse-drawn carriages. A sheep pen and many workshops provide hands-on experience of the past. • I advise everyone to take the time to visit the reserve. Here you can immerse yourself in the history of Azerbaijan, closer to tradition, culture and crafts. Here you can get a cooking master class gutabs made, lavash, carpet weaving or pottery. The friendly staff will explain and show everything. The reserve operates a mini zoo with camels and other animals. Very interesting Museum of modern art. Entrance fees, museum standards, purely symbolic. Especially colorful and interesting here on Novruz holiday. Within the reserve are held theatrical actions involving acrobats and creative teams. You can taste dishes of national cuisine and have some fun. Interesting for adults and children. In summer it is advisable to visit the complex either in the morning or after 4 pm because the heat will not enjoy watching all the expositions.

  • A place in the open air which collected various ancient and not-so-items. Went long enough, consisting of guided tours.

  • How to get there: by bus from the metro routes 101 Introduction, 187 and 150. Travel 50 gp per person in cash. Go to the Gala, you can inform the driver and he will tell you where to go. Journey time 40 minutes. Each Museum entrance (in addition to the exhibition of contemporary art)-4 manats. That is, a complex of museums will cost 12 manat per person per entry. Worth a look are the ethnographic museum in the open air, but without a guide is little understood. The Guide did not take, tried to address everything yourself. On the territory of the Museum there are enclosures with animals that you can feed, so if you want to get the most out of a trip to the Museum Gala, bring any vegetables, apples. On the territory of many camels, sheep, rabbits, goats, chickens, there are horses, donkeys, ducks. Also recommend a visit to the medieval fortress, but there can be everything to bypass for 10 minutes, and the same protection, relying tickets, I was not met, and in the off season, apparently, you can take the chance to stroll there yet. But as soon as you enter into the territory of the museum complex, the kind the guards escort you to the checkout. Nice, but a little. Most hooked contemporary art exhibition here are the original work of the authors from all over the world, including those from Russia, Britain, the United States, the Czech Republic and Azerbaijan. Paintings and articles made of nails, Staples and other improvised means of imagination, and is worth a look, especially for free! The Pavilion itself is imbued with the atmosphere of creativity, even smells there fresh paint! Gala village itself is very colorful, all in ruins, very interesting here walking and fotkat'sja!

  • Worth spending half a day or even a day there. 3 great museums and outdoor park with animals.
  • Amazing
  • The place is an outdoor open Museum tells the way of life and alazerbiganin homes, and indoor Museum contains some money, clothing and many old Sable tea Kettle, Castle, Museum of contemporary art, I think that this place is too modest.
