National Flag Square, Baku

(3.7/5 based on 160+ reviews on the web)
Take a turn around National Flag Square, a spacious seafront plaza dominated by a massive flagpole. Designed by David Chambers and completed in 2010, the 162 m (531 ft) standard ranks among the tallest in the world, and boasts an enormous flag of Azerbaijan visible from almost anywhere in the city. You can reach the square on a long, relaxing walk along the waterfront, but the flagpole area usually remains closed to the general public. For travelers who use our custom trip planner, Baku holidays become easier to arrange, with trips to the National Flag Square and other attractions mapped out and timetabled.

  • The National Flag Square is quite modern and is located a bit outside of the city center but still in walking distance from the old town. The Cyrstal Hall is located right next to it and the corniche ...  more »
  • The flag is one of the symbols of the State. The flag is simply huge and Azerbaijan as would shows around the world as it is important for the country and the Azeris. Me, honestly, flag struck, didn't expect to see so powerful and strong construction. By the way, I'm only in Baku found out that in the year 2010, when opening, and flagpole with flag was included in the Guinness Book of records as the highest in the world (!). Flagpole height 162 meters, weight 220 tons, the diameter at the base of 3.2 meters, the flag itself 70 * 35 meters. The numbers are impressive, but the flag itself is simply amazing! Truth in 2011 he took a record, but it doesn't make it less significant. As the saying goes: "fact." Under the pedestal of the flagpole is a museum. Opened on 9 November 2010 in the day of the national flag. Place for a flag chosen ideal, it is visible from almost all parts of the city. It is a pity that in early January, the Museum was closed, and the flagpole itself does not come up. Next, just 100 metres away, is crystal Hall. Weather in Baku on Christmas was wonderful, almost windless, but it did not give us to see the flag in all its glory, when it develops in the wind, showing all its greatness ... P.s. Baku-not a "one-off" because the city wants to come back here! It can be seen that the makings for the development of huge!

  • Crossed the road from the hotel "Four seasons" to the Primorsky Boulevard and walked him to the State flag square is not less than 20 minutes. Here you can rent a bike-so walk will take place faster. Climb to the flag on the steps fail, strictly abided by. On the way to wrap the square on the Ferris wheel, where no special beauty from above does not promise. Well-groomed Park area near the square, near-Crystal Palace, closed during the Christmas holidays. In General, a point of interest left the impression of a deserted zone can not walk in the winter season along the coast where fresh breeze will be visible even when the full calm. Worth the visit-for the sake of checkmarks and a photo on the background makrostjaga.
