Azerbaijan Carpet Museum, Baku

(3.7/5 based on 320+ reviews on the web)
Explore the largest collection of Azerbaijani carpets and rugs in the world at Azerbaijan Carpet Museum, displaying traditional and modern patterns of the nation's UNESCO-protected applied art. Opened in 1967 as the first specialized museum for carpets in the world, the museum has built its impressive collection over the decades. In 2015 it relocated from a mosque to a modern building shaped in the form of a rolled-up carpet, on the edge of the Caspian Sea. Watch women weaving their patterns in one of the workshops, and learn about the different techniques and meanings of various patterns. Over 10,000 accompanying artifacts such as ceramics, jewelry, and metalwork enrich your understanding of this cultural heritage. • The unusual shape of the building. Wonder what's inside. Many carpets, different eras. Some woven whole scenes from the lives of people. Portraits of famous personalities. It is a pity that there is no information in Russian, is a big minus. As Russian tourists in the city a lot.

  • Done nothing interesting except for the external shape of the museum itself, which is enough to enjoy the outdoors. Inside three floors of carpets, which look and feel sleepy. Audio guide is not interesting. Places a glass floor on which you cannot attack)))) then what? ... Very sorry for the wasted time. There not worth the walk even for that would put a tick.
