Azerbaijan Carpet Museum, Baku

3.8
Explore the largest collection of Azerbaijani carpets and rugs in the world at Azerbaijan Carpet Museum, displaying traditional and modern patterns of the nation's UNESCO-protected applied art. Opened in 1967 as the first specialized museum for carpets in the world, the museum has built its impressive collection over the decades. In 2015 it relocated from a mosque to a modern building shaped in the form of a rolled-up carpet, on the edge of the Caspian Sea. Watch women weaving their patterns in one of the workshops, and learn about the different techniques and meanings of various patterns. Over 10,000 accompanying artifacts such as ceramics, jewelry, and metalwork enrich your understanding of this cultural heritage. To find out how to plan a trip to Baku, use our trip itinerary maker.

  • See from the outside unless you're bitten carpet fade. The staff is rude to the reception and the shop! Stay away!

  • Unusual carpet Museum. Very modern outside and inside! The building itself is made in the form of folded roll of carpet. No tours will be no fun. You can come and take the audioguide in Russian or take a guide. The people at the weekend, many may have to wait for the released ... 2 tickets for 7 manats + 8 manat guide cost us 22 monat or 730 rub. Only! Excursion around the Museum about hours, quickly and concisely. Interestingly enough, I advise you to go. Still advise to arrive early, then see how the needle workers sit and weave carpets. When it starts to get dark, they leave.
