  • Located in an old building, the Beethoven House can be excellent for a matter of minutes, but no more, since about life and permanence of the musician there was very little. Only thing of note were the original scores, the station to listen to the music and the piano

  • 5 minutes and again! This museum is a shame. There is nothing except a piano and the old docs. 5 euros admission... Don't go above all.

  • The venue hosted some handwritten scores by the composer, some tables and the piano. Like space with "exhibits" is definitely not fantastic but you get a little idea of the personal things of the composer. For me that was enough.

  • Even though this is not the flat where Beethoven spend his time in Vienna but it is right opposite it (the flat where he used to live is currently occupied). A good collection of paintings, music scripts and other (some belonging to Ludwig Beethoven or his family and some to people associated with him). There are recordings of his most famous pieces of work. The museum is relatively small.
  • Without a guide, you would mistake this apartment block for yet another beautiful palace in Vienna. But there’s a big chance that there’s a person of significance living in one of these beautiful homes sometime in history. Here at the Pasqualati House on Mölker Bastei, that person was Beethoven. Beethoven’s former apartment is now a museum, showcasing displays of art and personal items from Beethoven’s life. The real estate here isn’t bad either. It’s just a short walk to nearby Burgtheater, which might be where he performed the opera Fidelio which he wrote while staying here. The funny thing is, Beethoven actually moved houses a lot, staying at 80 places during in Vienna. His many homes as well as the various memorials to his legacy can be found throughout Vienna. Google Beethoven Vienna and you are likely to find exploration maps and walks that takes you on a tour of Beethoven’s Vienna. That could turn out to be a masterpiece in itself.
  • We love Beethoven, the mad musician! But... not the mad staff sitting at the entrance. We went there as part of the Vienna pass. It would not have been worth the money, no matter how little, to be treated poorly. It is on the 4th floor. Only stairs is available. Interesting displays. Music player plays music samples.
  • Interesting but disappointing. As others have already said, the materials are poorly presented and the staff is almost defensive if you ask questions. After climbing four flights of stairs, I would have hoped for a better reception and exhibit. Nonetheless, I'm pleased to have visited the rooms of one of the world's great composers!
  • Highly disappointed in this visit. Not much about Beethoven, very small and would have appreciated a pleasant greeting from staff rather than a rude one. One of the members paced in each room while we looked around, which was a bit weird. Not worth the €5 each.

Where to stay in Vienna

As a former imperial capital, Vienna is full of lavish hotels reminiscent of the city’s royal past. If you’re traveling on a budget, it’s not hard to find hotels for a more affordable price. Consider staying in the Innere Stadt, or First District, if you only have a short time in town, as you’ll be within easy walking distance to many of the city’s main tourist attractions. Outside of the central core, Leopoldstadt, or Second District, lines the Danube and offers peaceful walks through tree-lined paths. For shopaholics, Mariahilf, or Sixth District, is a central neighborhood with busy shopping streets and lively markets.
