The gardens of Schonbrunn palace--Schonbrunner Gardens--are as lavish and intricate as the palace itself. Within the gardens, you'll find a zoo, botanical garden, orangery, palm house, and a maze. Considered an extension of the palace, the gardens are accordingly designed with Baroque principles in mind. Notice the symmetry of the flowerbeds and strips of colored stones, which are inspired by embroidery patterns. Get lost in the maze, which was replanted in 1998 and closely follows the original layout. Find your way to the center, where you'll reach the viewing platform. • Nice to wander through the gardens and they do not charge for that. Please note if you want to cue for a while and see inside then you are not allowed to photograph inside.

  • The gardens are "a must" in conjunction with the Schonbrunn Palace. Great views, nice flowers - still, even in September. Enjoy the views and perspective from both main view points. First take...

  • An absolute highlight of my trip to Vienna. The gardens are enormous and really pretty. Each part of the garden also has some special feature for you to enjoy, such as the obelisk in one of the corners and the fountain in the centre. Most of the park is also free of charge, so unless you would really like to visit some of the special gardens, I would recommend not buying any tickets (of course, if you want, I would buy tickets to enter the palace or the zoo). The park's layout also offers amazing view corridors which span the across whole park for a unique view. I was there with 30+ degrees and the park offers plenty of shadow and free water taps to still be comfortable.
  • Truly breathtaking landscape surrounding beautiful structures with the Palace being the main event and the Neptune Fountain across from it. Standouts are the zoo with pandas and other unique animals. It is small but Mighty and my kids especially liked the Tirol house at the very top of the hill with the animals you could pet. Also the Palm greenhouse is really wonderful. The labrynth maze experience is especially fun. Definitely worth the price of admission. A wonderful place to spend a few days bouncing between activities and quiet moments.
  • It reminds me of the English glory of topiary. Large spaces, neat, unusual flowers, a waterfall. A lawn trimmer robot wandered around. Great is also the fact that access to the garden is free, so I saw people jogging and enjoying life
  • A wonderful park, very large and beautifully designed! You can easily spend a whole day exploring it, especially considering the cafes in & around the park and the number of themed greenhouses (these do charge an entrance fee). The park encompasses both the Schönbrunn zoo and the palace itself, both of which are worth a visit. Don't expect you'll be able to do the park, zoo, and palace all in one day, though!
  • Schönbrunn is the place to go to if you're in Wien! Fantastic craftsmanship and a lot of history involved. What's even better are the many, many beautiful gardens, paths and statues around the castle itself. We had far too little time here, and could easily have spent an entire day here. A must see!
