  • At each visit, something new can discover and experience. With children (and it must be not necessarily own) visit is special to the experience!

  • Just next to Schönbrunn Palace, in the park! Wonderful stroll, historic and educational! Best for kids: Tiroler Haus with alpine farmer's animals! Organic snacks: cheese, bacon, home made bread....
  • Worlds oldest zoo that was formerly hunting grounds and is part of Schonnbrunn palace park, very well kept with good layout, spacious enclosures, plenty of restaurants/cafes inside. Need atleast half ...  read more »
  • Probably the best and most beautiful ZOO in whole world. Animals live in replicas of their habitat, as much as it possible. There is even Panda, you can see Pandas anywhere else in Europe. Replica of Amazon forest, where you can walk among animals. You can walk in birds cages. Really beautiful.

  • Vienna Zoo was founded in 1752 and is the oldest zoo in the world. This is the best zoo I've ever been to and I don't know why it doesn't feature more prominently in the travel guides or websites. The first thing I noticed is how clean and pretty the zoo is in general. The only zoo I've ever been to that can compare with cleanliness and staffing would be Disney's Animal Kingdom which is quite a high bar. The historic buildings and animal enclosures also add to the atmosphere. Don't worry, the smaller less human cages have been preserved for history but aren't used anymore. Seeing animals that were very active and inquisitive of guests was also new for my party. Many times we had animals approach the glass to say "hello" or investigate zoo guests. An emperor penguin swam up and squawked a greeting (or threat!). This was one just one example. Low crowds and mostly locals seemed to indicate that this isn't a typical tourist place and this makes it even better. This is a very underrated attraction and I'd rate it a "must see" if you have kids or like animals. Tips - Go in the morning while all the crowds are at Schonnbrunn and then visit the palace in the afternoon (they are next to each other). - You can save time by planning to eat in the park because we found the food prices and food quality to be surprisingly good for a tourist spot. - If you want animal information be prepared to look it up on your smartphone or bring a reference book because exhibits will be German. - There are combo passes available for the zoo and Schonnbrunn but we didn't find it would save any money for our group. - Look up the feeding times in advance and plan your route accordingly. We saw them feed the sea lions and penguins. - buy your tickets online in advance and walk into the zoo with no line.
  • This is by far one of the best zoos I have been to. Large spaces for animals and their enclosures are very well kept. It's a large zoo so be prepared to walk. Well worth the money. Kids will enjoy, especially when the animals get feed. It will take you the better part of the day to navigate through the whole zoo. A must see!
  • Excellent zoo, animals have space to move and look healthy. Feeding times are a must. Well laid out. Set in outstanding palace grounds. Bit of a walk from the underground station - poor signage.
