Riesenrad, Vienna

(3.1/5 based on 800+ reviews on the web)
Riesenrad, a landmark on the Vienna skyline, is one of the earliest Ferris wheels ever built. The nearly 65 m (212 ft) tall Ferris wheel opened in 1897 in celebration of the Golden Jubilee of Emperor Franz Josef I. Enter one of the eight original wooden cabins that form the Wheel of History. The tour takes you through 2,000 years of the history of the capital city. Audio impressions and an enormous diorama tell the stories of the Prater, which brings a longstanding tradition back to life. Put Riesenrad into our Vienna trip builder to see other points of interest to visit during your vacation in Vienna.

  • You can't beat the views from this amazing Ferris Wheel. I would definitely recommend going if you even have just a fairly clear day. My day was blue skies and it was fantastic!
