Praterstern, Vienna

3.1
Get on the Liliputbahn to take a round-trip through one of the oldest amusement parks in the world at Praterstern. Emperor Josef II donated the area of the park to the people of Vienna in 1766. Ride Wiener Riesenrad, the giant Ferris wheel, for an unparalleled view of the capital city. Meet Max and Moritz, Little Red Riding Hood, and many other fairytale characters on the Grottenbahn ride. Taste knuckles of pork, beer, and potato pancakes at the restaurant Schweizerhaus. You can also visit the Hauptallee, planetarium, Prater Museum, and Praterturm--the highest-flying swing in the world. • In Vienna there are enough places for sightseeing at the top, but the Park "Prater" will give you the most unforgettable impressions and views! Firstly, the carousel Praterturm! It will take you to a height of 95 meters and speeds of 60 km/h will show you the city in all its glory: you can see and steeples of cathedrals, and the beauty of the Danube. After the OK. 10 speed, you go to an altitude of 30-40 meters, where the speed increases and you can already fly straight near the canopy of trees. In General, captures the spirit, but not scary. Things to take with you are not allowed to leave their straight near the swings. Indeed, on top of a strong wind, you spin the angle, and things can fall or fly. Tickets cost-5 euro per person. Take two, which is ideal for couples! Secondly, there are two Ferris wheel: open and closed as a cabin. The latter has a historical value, as it was established at the end of 19 century and included in the list of "treasures of European cinema cultural layer". Tourists run groups, 10 in each wagon. Wheel makes just one turn and twirl quite slowly, so you can catch all the view and take pictures. The height of the wheel about 65 meters. If you are going to climb on the Danube Tower, you can buy a ticket that includes the tower and discount wheel. There are more where to get in the Prater, but this is extreme. There are also Madame Tussauds, rooms of horror, a carousel for kids, roller coasters and many more entertainment.

  • The place offers a lot of entertainment. I belong to those who prefer to watch point of interest in this type of places, rather than be involved. Hence I recommend ok. a 20-minute cable through the park. Mini-the train is powered by coal, has several stops.

Where to stay in Vienna

As a former imperial capital, Vienna is full of lavish hotels reminiscent of the city’s royal past. If you’re traveling on a budget, it’s not hard to find hotels for a more affordable price. Consider staying in the Innere Stadt, or First District, if you only have a short time in town, as you’ll be within easy walking distance to many of the city’s main tourist attractions. Outside of the central core, Leopoldstadt, or Second District, lines the Danube and offers peaceful walks through tree-lined paths. For shopaholics, Mariahilf, or Sixth District, is a central neighborhood with busy shopping streets and lively markets.
