Well worth a walk through the gardens and the ways of the Ring. Beautiful and impressive ... wandering between squares and streets helps you breathe the atmosphere of Vienna that in some corners too crowded is lost

Beautiful square next to the Hafburg Palace with Museum Quartier to the bottom. In this square are the museums "twins" of Vienna. Super conserved and clean. Beautiful photos are taken here.

This attraction is a bit redundant in trip advisor. It can be found as a statue of Maria Theresa. It is a place where you can stop. Although this is a keeps the climate Square. Hence, close to the Parliament and the environment is interesting, valuable and antique.

Impressive square especially in the evening. Most touristic buses arrive here so often this is the first place you see in Vienna. It just magnificent.

Very nice and neat park where you can sit and have a Leisure Time in a busy Vienna.

It is nice to see that taxpayers money was really productively spent in the Empire.

It's pretty clear to me that Vienna is a cultural capital. The entire city exudes heightened sense of high charm and grace. It has 100 museums, 27 palaces, and 120 concert halls and theaters. Yes, one hundred twenty of them. One of the best place to start exploration of some of these is at the Imperial Palace itself. Right opposite the Hofburg across the Ringstrasse are two museums housed in almost identical twin buildings. The entire area used to be the former imperial stables, with the statue of the Empress Maria Theresa where the square is named after. Empress Maria is the only female empress of the Habsburg Dynasty and the Holy Roman Express. Her daughter was the famed Maria Antoinette, Queen of France to King Louis XVI and was famously sent to the guillotine due to the French Revolution. Later, Emperor Franz Joseph commissioned the 2 museums to be built on the former stable site to house the extensive collection of the dynasty. The two museums faced each other looking on to Empress Maria's statue. The square do glow with a golden tint in the evenings and I actually enjoyed just sitting by this statue to enjoy the peaceful garden here. It's not super crowded. But this is only the first taste, further up is more cultural immersion.

I've been visiting this place every winter, especially during the festive times, I was lucky enough to not be there in rush hours, I did have a lot of Christmas punch various tastes and from various mugs each year. Great experience.

Where to stay in Vienna

As a former imperial capital, Vienna is full of lavish hotels reminiscent of the city’s royal past. If you’re traveling on a budget, it’s not hard to find hotels for a more affordable price. Consider staying in the Innere Stadt, or First District, if you only have a short time in town, as you’ll be within easy walking distance to many of the city’s main tourist attractions. Outside of the central core, Leopoldstadt, or Second District, lines the Danube and offers peaceful walks through tree-lined paths. For shopaholics, Mariahilf, or Sixth District, is a central neighborhood with busy shopping streets and lively markets.
