Where to stay in Vienna

As a former imperial capital, Vienna is full of lavish hotels reminiscent of the city’s royal past. If you’re traveling on a budget, it’s not hard to find hotels for a more affordable price. Consider staying in the Innere Stadt, or First District, if you only have a short time in town, as you’ll be within easy walking distance to many of the city’s main tourist attractions. Outside of the central core, Leopoldstadt, or Second District, lines the Danube and offers peaceful walks through tree-lined paths. For shopaholics, Mariahilf, or Sixth District, is a central neighborhood with busy shopping streets and lively markets.

  • If you already know Madame Tussauds then you know what to expect. All Madame Tussaids museums are nice. Very good work. But we have already seen several museaums from Madame Tussauds in different citi...  more »
  • I have seen many Madam Tussards in various countries and I think the one in Vienna is one of the best in terms of collections and arrangement. The Ghandi one is so realistic as if he is looking at you...  more »
  • Very nice place with good info about the different figures there. You can save money if you take it with a combo ticket, for example the Ferris wheel, together they cost 26 euros. It is also very easy...  more »

  • This place is included for free in Vienna Pass. Good experience to see how famous celebrities would most likely look like in person. The place is interactive and fun to take pictures with. However, we got disappointed when the ticketing receptionist told us that we were not allowed to take picture if we do not buy their brochure. And upon exiting, we were also asked if we took any photos while inside the museum. There are other Madame Tussauds across other countries in Europe, I wonder if they also treat clients the same way.
  • Well maintained, humble staff, nice ambience. Statutes were very live. Loved clicking pictures. Being Indian I loved Mahatma Gandhi's statue. Place offers wax statues of many great personalities.
  • We had great fun, it was amazing to see how lifelike they make the wax, the history is well presented and all the famous persons are there. You can get your own wax hand at the end. I loved the horror bathtub(wont spoil you more) Well worth the time and the price. I would recommend Vienna Pass.
  • Nice art work. Properly maintained place. Easily identifiable from the street It's essentially a museum of wax replica's of legends mostly from west.
  • I heard that there can be crowded, but when we were, there was no crowd. Great fun. Presented are persons of historical importance. From politicians to celebrities.
