Karlsplatz, Vienna

(340+ reviews on the web)
Landmark
Pause to enjoy the bustling metropolis at Karlsplatz, one of Vienna's hubs of activity. This lively square surrounded by historical buildings stands immediately next to the U-Bahn subway station. Of particular interest is the picturesque old subway station, preserved despite its retirement. Note its intricate and elegant design featuring gold accents, hand-painted details, and an arched roof--true to the Jugendstil architecture style. The square is also home to a large water pool, the Vienna city museum, and Karlskirche--a magnificent 18th-century Baroque cathedral that towers over the city square. Stroll the large park and stop at one of the many restaurants and cafes in the area for a bite to eat. You might also catch one of the local events hosted on the plaza. Karlsplatz is just one of the many highlights you can arrange to see using our international travel planner, Vienna Edition.

  • Stephan's Cathedral and the Opera House and arrived while I was away from home. Because the inside of the ring done by geographical distance is not far away. When you get back to taking the subway to the Metro to access. In the winter, visit this ash was spring flowering and bright jeonggyeongi seems to have a bit more beautiful. However, at the end of the day is the appropriate course to walk lightly.

  • The best time to see for the first time Karlsplatz is decidedly the evenings. Every time I go to Vienna, I cannot but take a walk down this wonderful square. Leaving the Karntnersstrasse on the Opernring (next to the State Opera House), across the Ring and continuing on Karntnerstrasse arrives at a large square where, precisely, in the evening, you can enjoy the idyllic vision of the Karlskirke: I found the left lit very well with its fountain just outside (winter freezes the water and some kids Skate) and where in summer movies in original language among the trees. Attraction not to be missed.
