Where to stay in Vienna

As a former imperial capital, Vienna is full of lavish hotels reminiscent of the city’s royal past. If you’re traveling on a budget, it’s not hard to find hotels for a more affordable price. Consider staying in the Innere Stadt, or First District, if you only have a short time in town, as you’ll be within easy walking distance to many of the city’s main tourist attractions. Outside of the central core, Leopoldstadt, or Second District, lines the Danube and offers peaceful walks through tree-lined paths. For shopaholics, Mariahilf, or Sixth District, is a central neighborhood with busy shopping streets and lively markets.

  • Looked at bit worn up close and could certainly do with a little facelift, and some weeding or thinning of the growth here and there.  more »
  • This is a place to be avoided. Just a bazar with cheap stuff, cashing in on the location, across from the famous apartment building by Hundertwasser. Highly recommend seeing those, but you cannot get ...  more »

  • Hundertwasser Village is good for people who are interested in architecture. There are some nice shops and cafes around this area.
  • A hidden gem tucked in Vienna, Hundertwasser is very quirky and unique. There were many students when we went there, it can get really crowded. There are a lot of stores offering souvenirs of Vienna, then there's another one selling merchandise of the Hundertwasser Village. Make sure to check out the bathrooms, they're really pretty. Be sure to take lots of photos. Keep in mind that it's also a residential area, don't talk loudly. Try going here during different seasons, you'll be amazed at how different it looks.
  • Beautiful. To be visited also with the Hundertwasser Museum that is not far from here
  • I visited it some 20 ys. ago, and decided to see the house and surroundings again recently. Nothing changed, still a colourful patch of the city even for non architects or non architecture fans. You can find several shops around, where expensive memories can be bought.
  • Definitely worth a stop if you're visiting Vienna.
