  • the gardens are free and maintained by the University of Vienna, and it shows! Every plant has its price tag and are sorted by genre (if you enter from the entrance near the University itself you will find the free art exhibits and a map with the map of crops per household). Miss a walk among the flowers and large trees, it's worth it! The gardens have benches, drinking fountains and toilets.

  • There are wonderful displays of many types of plants, trees and shrubs to wander through with plenty of shade if the sun is at its peak.  more »
  • Beyond the wall fills a never ending endless stream of visitors to the edge of the Belvedere Park and makes recovery virtually impossible. Here, in the Green refuge of the Botanical Garden, another, a leisurely rhythm prevails. Visitors can learn about the plants, where they stroll past, although on boards and cards but this pedagogy not arises. Accompanied having a rest and let him popular again and unknown as a premiere experience. But not only beds, Alpine Garden, cacti collection or glass houses, pools and ponds, which all serve the next door-based biology students as illustrative, making again and again pay the visit, no, a park of considerable scale allows for dreamy relaxation walks. Multiple inputs facilitate the decision to continue today in the Botanical Garden and a drinking fountain refreshes thirsty and refreshes tired. Not looking at its 263 years this gem, unless you look at some giant fantastically beautiful trees that grow here already from the outset in the Viennese sky. And who even be a garden called own, can spice this part within the framework of the annual exchange of rarity.

  • It's a very beautiful garden and the fact that it's free entry is great. I would've appreciated if there was more information about the plants and maybe the names in other languages other than German.
  • Nice place to chill and let the world go by... and even learn a thing or 2 ;)
  • Great place to spend a day. There is a large, free area, and the alpine garden (with a cost) is a must visit if you like plants and botany.
  • Really gorgeous place, perfect to relax, go for a walk or for a run. They have a lot of different plants even edibles. Surely a place worth a visit if you visit vienna.
  • great informative botanic garden with descriptions of plants, bushes and trees - check it out ;)

Where to stay in Vienna

As a former imperial capital, Vienna is full of lavish hotels reminiscent of the city’s royal past. If you’re traveling on a budget, it’s not hard to find hotels for a more affordable price. Consider staying in the Innere Stadt, or First District, if you only have a short time in town, as you’ll be within easy walking distance to many of the city’s main tourist attractions. Outside of the central core, Leopoldstadt, or Second District, lines the Danube and offers peaceful walks through tree-lined paths. For shopaholics, Mariahilf, or Sixth District, is a central neighborhood with busy shopping streets and lively markets.
