The Alpine Garden in the Belvederegarten is the oldest Alpine Garden in Europe. More than 3,000 species of plants, coming from all continents of the world can be found on an area of about 2,500 square meters. Its main task is the excess life protection of endangered flora of the Alps, which can thrive in the wild only under strict protection regulations. The plants of the Austrian Federal gardens are genetic archives of old culture and wild plant species. It is worth for plant lovers and other visitors.

Nice Alpine Sadiq is located next to the Belvedere, Belvedere Park side entrance. A very small garden, inspection is not time-consuming. A few years ago was here in may, when tsveli rhododendrons, was very beautiful.

Best for plant enthusiasts. It's pleasant but a little underwhelming for the average visitor in the heat of July. 4€ entrance fee when I visited. The botanic garden at the same entrance is free. Closes 5.45.

This is a pretty little garden, nicely laid out with paths at different levels running round and through rockery beds. A modest entry charge means that you'll find space to move around. I'm not sure it will accord with everyone's view of an alpine garden: in April there is an abundance of primulas, bergenias and pulsatillas, but few genuinely alpine species in flower (which I'd expect to see at this time of year and altitude). But it is pretty, there are some lovely shrubs giving depth to the garden, so go and see it for what it is.

Europe's oldest Alpine Garden. Many different plants from all (Alpine) share the Earth. There is also a collection of bonsai. Friendly Mitarbeiter.Es is very much to see. Open daily 10-18 clock between March and August.

Since almost the entire Botanical Garden is accessible, the entrance fee of €3 (price for students) is perfectly fine. In addition, the Alpine Garden is worth a visit definitely!

A small Alpine Garden, entrance fee. Many colors and slides, the spring is very bad. Advise

Where to stay in Vienna

As a former imperial capital, Vienna is full of lavish hotels reminiscent of the city’s royal past. If you’re traveling on a budget, it’s not hard to find hotels for a more affordable price. Consider staying in the Innere Stadt, or First District, if you only have a short time in town, as you’ll be within easy walking distance to many of the city’s main tourist attractions. Outside of the central core, Leopoldstadt, or Second District, lines the Danube and offers peaceful walks through tree-lined paths. For shopaholics, Mariahilf, or Sixth District, is a central neighborhood with busy shopping streets and lively markets.
