Where to stay in Vienna

As a former imperial capital, Vienna is full of lavish hotels reminiscent of the city’s royal past. If you’re traveling on a budget, it’s not hard to find hotels for a more affordable price. Consider staying in the Innere Stadt, or First District, if you only have a short time in town, as you’ll be within easy walking distance to many of the city’s main tourist attractions. Outside of the central core, Leopoldstadt, or Second District, lines the Danube and offers peaceful walks through tree-lined paths. For shopaholics, Mariahilf, or Sixth District, is a central neighborhood with busy shopping streets and lively markets.

  • So it is not the most prepossessing of frontages and is not given the prominence it merits. You could easily think on entry that you have stumbled in to a university building and you are in the wrong ...  more »
  • I absolutely loved the beautiful art pieces on display ranging from Rubens, Ruisdael and of course Bosch. Since the museum is not stampeded by hundreds of people, it exudes a sense of calmness as one ...  more »
  • Vienna has lots of nice art museums. Glad I didn't miss this important one. Found a spectacular Bosch tryptc, The Last Judgment - much like Garden of Heavenly Delights. Lots of Rubens too as well as o...  more »

  • The building is quite impressive, unfortunately the "main" hall was closed, and the corridors were dirty and not in a too good shape. The paint collection is mostly nothing special, the main attraction is the Bosch painting, which is really awesome! Actually the ticket was free for all, so is it worth the price :)
  • Why didnt you just accept Hitler. I do not understand for his art skills are simply beautiful. Have you not seen one of his paintings! They are marvelous. Now because of your stupidity many people (Jews) died because of WW2 and if Hitler was accepted none of this wouldve happened. What the hell is the matter with you?
  • The admissions officers should be ashamed of themselves. Destroyed poor Adolf's dream of becoming the next Michelangelo. WW2 wouldn't have happened if you allowed that talented chap in.
  • Not good. Is the cause of World War II. If they had taken the time to consider Adolf then we might not have 35 million dead people and a war that involved more people than imaginable. Go to this school if you are against humanity.
  • You have to be rich and from prominent families, finished high school to join the über elite world of fine arts, Oh, you are a homeless poor orphan from Austria and your mother is dying of cancer so that is not possible? Have you tried another path of Wollt ihr den TOTALEN KRIEG from Deutschland?
