Liechtensteinklamm, Sankt Johann im Pongau
Categories: Geologic Formations, Nature & Parks
Explore the heart of a mountain region at Liechtensteinklamm, a deep ravine nestled in the Austrian Alps. Named in honor of the Prince of Liechtenstein, who spurred the creation of the walkways at the site, the ravine is constantly deepened by the powerful waterfalls that pound the rock. Visit the site and wend your way back into the gorge via the 1 km (0.6 mi) walkway, which you'll also use to return to the entrance. You'll find yourself surrounded by imposing stone walls, some of which rise to a height of 300 m (984 ft) around you, barely leaving room for the footpath and frothing river below. At the end, you'll be rewarded with an up-close view of a crashing cascade. Wear sturdy shoes with good grip, as the constant spray can make the paths slippery. Choose to start, finish, or center your holiday on a trip to Liechtensteinklamm by using our Sankt Johann im Pongau vacation planner.

We were relatively early in the morning there, which was good because it was still not too crowded at the time. The hike goes well, you need to have not the best condition. You will be rewarded with fantastic natural spectacle. Just plain impressive. What I don't understand is how people can take with their dogs. The three animals I've seen were all completely scared. I would therefore recommend to let the dogs out. Because the road is itself not very long it is after an hour. It is really nice to look at. Therefore clear recommendation.show original

Very beautiful place and relaxing to look at. It is joyful for the entire family. Come early, as the passages gets crowded and the experience become less joyful!
