Lookout Castle Must See

  • Salzburg's landmark is worth, if also not exactly cheap and very crowded a visit again and again. Nevertheless, it has a very beautiful view of Salzburg and gets a great impression in the past.

  • The view from top is amazing. U can see all the city and the country side. The place is historical but there is nothing much to see. and the way up is tough. Better take the train leading up. It's included in the ticket anyway. There r few restaurants on top over the amazing view. Reasonable prices.
  • The walk up to the castle is very steep and although satisfying to complete, I would not recommend it. A cable lift can be taken in town from the bottom of the hill and goes directly to the top and back. Be mindful that on the way up it can be extremely full. This cable car is included in the ticket price of the castle which is good. The castle itself is quite interesting and has lots to see and explore, you need a good couple of hours if you want to see it all. The views of town are stunning and the restaurant up by the castle offers a great ambiance to enjoy these views. From the castle you can also access a number of walking tracks into surrounding areas.
  • You cannot just view the fortress from the ground! You must make the trek up. Walk up it for the real scenic and exercise experience. Beautiful tree lined path on the way up. The 10 euros to tour are well worth it. It's not jammed with a bunch of insignificant historical artifacts. Just enough to make you feel cultured. The views from up top are kind numbing how beautiful they are.
  • Take the tram up to the top and enjoy spectacular views of the region. We stopped at a cafe at the top for a snack before exploring the grounds. Don't miss the marrionette museum. On your way out before hitting the square, you'll pass an amber store. If you love amber as I do, you'll find quality amber. Look for the sale rack! 😁
  • An absolutely impeccable example of medieval architecture. I was amazed at how well the castle has been maintained. My son really enjoyed the tram ride to the castle entrance. The surrounding city and courtyards are clean and well maintained. Also, the nearby graveyard and cave system was really interesting to explore.
