The site of religious worship for centuries, Salzburg Cathedral still contains the same baptismal font in which Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was baptized. The Baroque cathedral as it stands today was rebuilt in the 17th century, but a church had existed in this same spot since 774. Inside, visit the cathedral museum to see religious treasures, such as the Cross of St. Rupert and the Sacred Dove. Continue to the Cabinet of Curiosities for an exhibit of natural objects and artwork. This exhibit connects to the Long Gallery of St. Peter's Abbey, a 70 m (230 ft) corridor lined with paintings. The cathedral has to be one of the most impressive churches in Europe. We arrived just as an organ recital was ending, and the sound was fantastic.

The building looks really goods from outside. When we try to get in the church, there was a security man that decides who could get in and who NO. He decide under his own judgment. We really don’t...

Beautiful cathedral in the main square! Tickets are 5 euros for adults and free for kids up until age 18 years. The cathedral done is well decorated and beautiful. You also get to visit the krepes under ground in the church were priests and Cardinals are buried. The stone work is amazing. If you are in the neighborhood, make sure you visit St Peter's church because I thought the art work there was better than it was here. However, this cathedral is definitely worth the visit!

The noon organ concert was absolutely wonderful. The cathedral is exquisite, and you can buy your tix online to save waiting in line. Highly recommend!

This is just an extraordinary cathedral, which was rebuilt several times, which almost burned down in 1628, which was almost destroyed in 1944, rebuilt and shone in its splendor. Stucco, frescoes, painting - all at the highest level! Entrance fee 5 euros. Definitely recommend!

This is a beautiful building and our group was treated to a lunchtime concert. The cathedral has four or five organs and two of these were used for the concert. Afterwards, our group was invited into the Archbishop's Sacristy for a tasting of Communion wine which was, unusually, white. The reason given was that it makes cleaning the vessels easier. We were then free to wander around, including a visit to the crypt, dating from 774. Whilst doing renovations which finished in 1959, evidence of an earlier church was found, including a wall dating from the 400s.

A beautiful building inside and out! Definitely worth a visit if you are in Salzburg. If you’re interested in crypts and a bit of Catholic history then go downstairs and check out the area where many archbishops are laid to rest.
