  • The interiors are beautiful, furnished in the style of the Habsburg period and rich in paintings and frescoes. Very impressive views of the squares below the terrace that connects the residence to the Cathedral. Upon entering the Cathedral, finally, you can see the Church from above, from the area where the pipe organ.

  • This Palace of the 13th century, is a cultural centre, which functions as an art gallery and concert hall. The Museum exhibits one of the most famous paintings by Rembrandt, "Mother praying". It was the residence of the archbishops of Salzburg for hundreds of years, and has 180 rooms. In 1232, Archbishop Conrado I started to build a Palace for residence of bishops. He named it the residence. The present Baroque building was commissioned by the Prince and Archbishop Wolf Dietrich von Raitenau in the 16th century. In the second olanta, Carabinierisaal, is a cavernous Hall used previously for banquets and stage shows. From here, you access a series of rooms that show the grandeur of the Palace, being the most impressive Audienzsaal (courtroom). The high ceilings are decorated with frescoes depicting away El Grande. The residence is also known as a concert hall. Ratszimmer (room Advisor), was the place where Mozart played their first concert at the Court in 1762 when he was six years old. The archbishops also invited Mozart and other musicians to play in the Rittersaal (Hall of Knights). This room is still used for the Salzburg Palace concerts. The audio guide is included in the price of admission.

Where to stay in Salzburg

There’s no better area to stay in the city where Mozart was born than the historical city center, a World Heritage Site. Salzburg's hub offers comfortable accommodations nestled between a rich array of sights. The Salzach River cuts directly through town, dividing the city into east and west. Look for accommodations in the Altstadt, tucked in between the river and the city’s mountain, Monchsberg. For budget-minded travelers, try a centrally located youth hostel or small hotel. If price isn’t an issue, splurge on Austrian luxury in an upscale hotel.
